Did the Idol even make an appearance?

Thought it was that female coworker for a sec.
Not in person but she was 'gushing' about her to the detective or so and then went to the concert when she got her paycheck while her coworkers were doing bbq (which was a red herring/might rise suspicions but even without the boss being an ex delinquent, i imagine it might be common to do a weekend bbq with coworkers or friends if you live in an area that has a nice camp spot to where you can have a day time bbq even if you don't also set up tents there too)

Microplastics in my whisky? No thanks. This idol is definitely a psycho
Huh? Was there something about microplastics in the whisky about the notes? I just thought it implied she was a heavy drinker buying it in such a large size

This is why I don't try to guess the culprits in supernatural crime dramas.

I just wait for the author to reveal whatever obscure secret they have.
One day there's gonna be a 'twist' where the culprit is like, some 8 year old (not that there aren't little kids that can't cause deaths accidentally/indirectly but hm)

Wasn't that the plot twist of Umineku no Naku Koro ni? That some uber witch god version of the girls from Higurashi where the true masterminds all along

It has the mystery tag.
While usually that would imply a detective approach, in this case it does not. It is a manga about crime mysteries -- but they're solved by psychic powers, not by detective powers.

Edit: Skimmed over the early comments... Well, that turned into a trash talking tennis match. Amusing, but it became a little hard to follow the arguments/points.

Again, it is a crime mystery. But it is not (so far) about mysteries that are solved by detection. Thus we don't have the usual game of "author will lay out clues, and the reader will try to figure out the solution before the author reveals it".

As for whether solutions are asspulls... "Asspull" is a legit concept, though whether or not something qualifies as an asspull is highly (but not entirely) subjective. And in this case, where things are being solved by psychic MC, any "clues" that we see are quite likely useless. After all, this series is (apparently) about cases that can't be solved by normal detection -- almost by its nature every solution is going to look like an asspull. But then you end up with the "expect the unexpected" paradox.

You guys, isn't EVERYTHING an asspull until it's explained?
I think most people with issues of the idol reveal is that they didn't enjoy the order that the author chose to tell this one.

The first misbuttoning was explained in layers as the convo went on, revealing pieces bit by bit until we got the reveal.

This one builds us up to draw conclusions to certain people, even casting the detective into dark possibilities (torture chair?), before betraying most reader's expectations with the idol reveal. Next chapter will likely reveal the motive, the tells, and give closure for the detective. May not end as satisfactory for all readers like the first one, but I think I'll enjoy it all the same.

I dunno about the set up on this one, isn't the point of murder mysteries supposed to be that there are clues sprinkled in so that it isn't completely out of nowhere?

I called this out last week but only "Fair-play Whodunnits" are murder mysteries the audience are supposed to be able to solve with the provided clues. There are rules involved to qualify as fair-play, and this series pretty much breaks all of the relevant ones. That's why I gave up on trying to guess the culprit.
