@RazDog there's a number of fun things coming, but none of them are /scary/ - they all just want to give the girls a hug.
Really. Like, /really/ want to give them a hug.
Big spoiler version (you have been warned):
these boys are non-human /things/, a bit like the moss-men from the previous arc, there are a whole bunch of globsters like the one Sorawo saw that land on the beach and . . . something - the girls were running at that point. /Something/ is in the beach house, or it /was/ until it decided to join in (remember the trays on the stairs?). And a certain ex-girlfriend pays them a visit. I'm pretty sure there are more smaller bits and pieces that I can't recall in detail (the hermit crab from the taxi is an example), I really do need to re-read this part, but those are the big ones. Anyone who remembers more feel free to chime in!
It turns out they're deeper into the otherside than they've ever been before, and the shit /really/ hits the big blue fan as a result . . .
Don't worry - they survive.

@MegaMeo niiice - I didn't try to find any of the references the author gave to the original stories because I don't read any Japanese, if there are translation that's really cool. The original stories behind the various bits of this are totally weird - one of the best things about these novels is how well they're stitched together into coherent and internally consistent (and scary) scenarios.
@himi-cat: The thing that I actually found scariest when reading this story in the novel was
the realization that the beautiful blue sky they've been casually playing under has actually been the terrifying blue light of the deepest portions of the Otherside the whole time.
@Madcat6204 totally - that's one of my greatest regrets about the adaptation of this part (though there's still hope, particularly after this chapter):
I was really hoping to see that aspect in a visual medium, with the whole white sandy beach and blue ocean and sky, and then at some point putting two and two together and getting OMFingG were so fucked. Particularly given how much of the visual aspects of the otherside are tied to individual perception, and Sorawo's eye in particular - you could have lots of fun with different perspectives obscuring that blue sky until the last, scariest possible moment . . .
Not sure if I want to hold out hope for the anime adaptation - it sounds like it's a lot looser than the manga, sadly.
Gosh, it must be terrifying to be basically alone in the world and then to hear a laugh from somewhere.
@himi-cat I'm not holding any hope for the anime. It's fine, it's fine. Just disappointingly not the kind of adaptation I wanted. They dropped all of the suspense, all of the horror, and just made it an action-adventure. The beach will be just as rushed and non-tense as the rest has been so far.
Hmm that people are from the song, she said right now or not am just guessing cause the number of people is kinda the exact same thing and, also the credits are awesome!
@TheManBuck
I think the reason they disassembled the M4 so thoroughly is specifically to try to make it unrecognizable as an M4 in x-ray scans at an airport. Sorawo totally realized when she sobered up that that probably wouldn't work anyway.
