It’s honestly extremely sad because he was with Thorfin ever since he reformed. He’s one of the characters that understands Thorfin’s ideology the most and the struggles he has done to maintain it but realizes he himself is not strong enough to keep with it like Thorfin.I didn't expect Einar to react this way.
Einar lost his father when his home village was attacked by the English, and lost his freedom later, when the same village was again attacked by the Norse. He then spent who knows how many years as a slave on the farm, until the farm was once again attacked and he just barely escaped death or further enslavement. I'm sure he's well tired of trying to build a home, only to have it taken away through violence, especially considering he just sailed halfway across the known world explicitly to finally be rid of that very thing.I didn't expect Einar to react this way.
Assuming women are half, wouldn't it be closer to 7x or 8x their number? Either way, pulling a Rorke's Drift is still possible with the fort.a bunch of farms and settlers thinking of fighting an army (roughly) 4 times their number (since deducting women and children)
even as a siege, it’s only viable at 3 times the number
and these guys are not even fighters
Having a walled fort roughly enables you to defend against three times your number with little difficulty. Problem is that the norse don't really have that much metal weaponry, let alone metal armor, so any additional advantage through superior equipment is probably minimal. Plus, their fort is made of wood, which is known to burn pretty well, and it abuts the water without a harbor or similar fortifications, so the Lnu might take canoes and attack from the seaward side as well.Assuming women are half, wouldn't it be closer to 7x or 8x their number? Either way, pulling a Rorke's Drift is still possible with the fort.
ugge said everyone swarmed the lnu and made them retreat.Lol how the hell is Ivar and his brother still alive, did the indians just decide yeah nah we wont kills you lol and retreated for no reason, even still Ivar should be long dead to blood loss.
