Dude thinks he can tell others what to do because he can't accept that people don't like this garbage since they introduced muh girl power (I actually like Hilde as a character even if she's obviously just a prop for ideology), fucking viking trans rights and the fact that the whole conflict started at first not because of anything the cast did or the guys that brought weapons but because some Indian old fart had completely unrealistic visions of the fucking future where he equates UK settlers to the nords just because they are white (racist much, Yukimura?) and ends with a fucking nuke which was hilariously shit to say the least
image0.jpg

Vinland used to be good and about all those themes you fucking love so much, shame that you and all the clowns in this comment section are too blind to see this Manga has been hot garbage ever since we entered a new age of politics and Yukimura decided to show his true colors as the cuck that he is. Yet you believe yourself to be some enlightened reader or wise man when you are nothing more than a little loser boy in a world of men.

I will read this garbage until the end because it is my duty to finish a story I've started, even if I think it's flaming garbage and you can't do anything about it.
Your noble quest to endure a manga you have come to hate and call garbage is truly inspiring :dogewow::clap: I failed to see that you are some sort of self-proclaimed garbage man who's sacred duty is to endlessly endure garbage.. that's rough! What a fate to have this sacred duty of hate-reading, oh chosen one! Truly, you are the Thorfinn of pointless suffering, a true garbage-duty warrior! :salute:

Is this the plot of your life? "While others read for enjoyment, he marches on, bound by an oath no one asked him to take, not realizing that he can be free from his self-chosen unnecessary duty that serves no purpose whatsoever and just adds to his flaming rants. He chooses to read flaming garbage, then rants about his own choice, making a moronic choice not realizing it, until the end of times - he is a true garbage-duty warrior!" :chad:

Since you didn't understand my post, or I didn't make it clear enough, here it is simplified: imagine going to a restaurant every day with food you hate and telling the restaurant "This is the worst dish I've ever had! See you tomorrow, chef! After all, it is my duty, which no one has given to me! It is a heavy burden as I have at least 10 reasons to dislike the dishes. See you tomorrow!" Be honest... Don't you see how absurd this is? I was simply reminding you that you have a choice to leave OR keep reading and accept this perceived "garbageness" without complaining about your own choice. I can't force you to make any choices, and I accept that people can dislike this manga, but I don't understand your irrational choice and would rather you made an intelligent choice. Get it? That was the point. You are the one making the "loser" choice, but you project it onto me who is enjoying the manga - make it make sense :notlikethis: That is what I meant with the comments being more disappointing than the plot progression. At least, with the manga, I know it is fiction and art, but the irrationality of some people here commenting is absolutely real. Come on, banter aside, I know you can do better than this, can't you? You are capable of better, I know it. Please, at least for your own sake, do better 🤝 Have some respect to how you spend your time and enjoy life. You don't have to suffer for no reason. Please make an intelligent choice next time you read the name "Vinland Saga" no matter which choice you make 🙏 do this with everything in life, and your life will be better and you won't be as lonely and hateful anymore. If you're not lonely yet, then it is a question of time, unless of course, you find people as unhappy as you about the same things: a band of complainers. I understand that you're unhappy about life and that your unhappiness has spread to this comment section, but you can reverse all this by beginning to make intelligent choices and stop feeding yourself with flaming garbage. If you're in a burning building, get out of it, don't feed the fire, while endlessly complaining about the hot flames and deciding to stay.

I've done my best, this is as much time as I will allow myself to give to you. Hope you got it. If not immediately, then one day it ought to make sense at least. Take care 🤝

Once again you talk a whole lot of nothing. You're no arbitor of who decides what's right or wrong. You are nothing. Stop pretending you're some sort of authority on the world of Manga let alone on anyone's life. Your pompous attitude won't make up for the fact that your life is a miserable pitiable existence.

Do they, though? If peace is so popular, why does campaigning for war see so much success? Over Christmas, I met with some family members who think that threatening war with Canada and Mexico is proof that Trump is "brilliant negotiator". People like them won the last election.

And Palestine is at peace now, is it? Palestine's retaliation is understandable given the circumstances they are in, but it has not gotten them an inch closer to peace.

If you're familiar with his broader body of speeches, you'd have seen MLK explain that destruction of property is not comparable to violence against persons.

And it was Ivar and his crew that made peaceful revolution impossible.

The south, which started the war in the first place, was explicitly doing so in order to install a government that would perpetuate slavery and race-based legal rights (or lack thereof) in perpetuity. An autocratic government did not take power as a result of a violent revolution because the violent revolutionaries lost.
Mate the Palestinians have like 12 rusty AKs to share between them while fighting literal bloodthirsty killers who are funded and supported by all of the Western world. And the last time Palestinians tried a march to peace the Israelis rolled them under bulldozers and shot them in the knees.

You cannot have peace with those kinda people and Thorfinn knows that. He has his strength but doesn't use it until he really has no option left. He could've alone taken on not only the Lnu army but also the King's army at Ketli's farm. He knows that in order to stop the cycle of violence you have to use your strength to do that.

Some people really are unaware of the current events in the world. The majority want peace in Ukraine, Middle East, Asia and Africa yet it's not happening.

Conflict is a necessity towards peace. Just ask the Palestinians who are constantly being invaded without constraint by an encroaching ideology funded by a world power or even the revolutionaries throughout history who fought for their lives to improve their people's conditions.

MLK said it best, "Riot is the voice of the unheard"

JFK's quote is cool too: "Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable"
You're damn right, people who haven't seen war cannot even fathom how much strength you need to not partake in it or how much you need to fight the other party in order to bring them to the peace table

Read both of your posts. You've written such sensible things and quite a few of them; I am bit shocked and mindblown. You've written the most insightful posts in my opinion. Thank you :glee:

I think you have hit the nail with the hammer. If we look at Styrk, the urge and craving to continue the cycle of violence pushes him to be so angry as to attack impulsively to the point of even killing his own "tribe" (Einar). He committed friendly fire because he couldn't accept that he wouldn't have his revenge. Psychologically, as a non-fiction person, he probably blamed the Lnu for the deaths of his brothers, despite of having been an instigator of violence and fear. I imagine that the idea of accepting having been partly responsible for theirs is too much of a burden. In the same way Thorfinn is carrying a heavy burden of having killed so many people for no good reason - this burden is even brought up by Thorfinn when he speaks to Einar before he is stabbed.

in summary, Styrk didn't have the strength to resist the urge and craving that was itching for revenge. He couldn't resist it because he isn't a "true warrior" and doesn't have "true strength" needed for peace :wtf:

I thought I wouldn't respond but I had a change of heart.

I'm sorry I hurt you. I wrote my original post because the lack of appreciation is shocking to me. What triggered me to banter was that you are calling someone's work "garbage". If you've worked for anything of your own by your very own diligent and time-consuming effort, then you ought to know that don't call other people's work "garbage". Imagine the author calls your art/craft/hobby "garbage". Don't pretend it doesn't matter, because if it didn't matter then you wouldn't be calling others work "garbage".
I understand that you are not liking the progression of the manga. Naturally, the manga isn't for you anymore, but the choice of how to deal with it is yours.

Still my way of replying was unnecessarily harsh and for that I'm sorry. I went too far with it. I'm being honest with you. Whether you accept this apology is up to you and if I can help you accept the apology, let me know. There was no need to hurt you 😔💔

Take care 🤝♥️

Yeah, and retaliative strikes have made that better how? Last time I checked, Palestinian deaths have skyrocketed since the attack on October 7th. Again, not saying their actions aren't understandable given the circumstances, but I am saying that "an eye for an eye" isn't exactly helping their cause.

Corporate lobbying using NGOs and think tanks. Also, the Republicans got smarter leaning more into social media that got them the Zuck to kowtow to them.
Because as we all know, public opinion doesn't count if it's been influenced by propaganda 🙄
And that's why conflict continues to exist until a compromise is achieved. The most important example that made peace through conflict possible is WWII which aided in the establishment of the UN.
Ah yes, the good ol' UN, permanently neutered by the US's absolute veto power, alongside the ICC, whose jurisdiction is unrecognized by the US, Russia, and China, i.e. the biggest players in world politics. It's almost like legitimacy established by violence is a dangerous precedent to set, because even if the original cause was justified it can be overturned by anyone with a big enough gun. (I.E. the US's participation in WWII was justified, but the ~80 years of nigh unbroken war thereafter has been significantly less so.)
Read between the lines. Both quotes imply violence as a necessity. Non-violence is just unrealistic in the volatile world controlled by emotional beings.
"Actually if you ignore the words MLK said in favor of the ones I imagined, he wasn't all about civil disobedience!"
What happened again? Did they decide to push through with dialog and let their men be killed by the South? Nope, they chose violence at the end. LMFAO

Since you seem to have forgotten, here was what we were actually talking about (regarding the civil war):
Violent revolutions almost always ends up with yet another autocratic government take power.
The violent revolutionaries were trying to establish an autocratic government, and they lost. (And are still salty about it.)

Please tell me then what are they supposed to do, because they have tried everything and the Israelis want nothing but complete and utter destruction and subjugation of the Palestinians. And this was before Oct 7 was even a thing. There are people and there always will be people upon whom Thorfinn's methods do not work, you have no option but to beat them to the negotiating table.

This is a story to explore the saga of establishing Vinland and how it went wrong.
This is an arc about the start of an effort that would take a millenia to be completed.

The author doesn't express approval of thorfinn's actions at any point. At best, he displays his resolve at keeping peace in light of numerous problems, backstabbings and human ever encroaching malice. Positive moments for his ideology are mostly provided by people who are already close to him or share the same views, so no surprises there. Otherwise it has never been an easy path.
Thorfinn never had an option to not go this route because of his beliefs and the damocles' sword that is Hilde.
Thorfinn never had a chance to curb the three brothers, because democracy was part of his ideals and the sword was smuggled onto the journey.
Thorfinn never wanted to display his strength as a warrior, as that would center his authority around his power, and not the group's resolution towards peaceful co-existance.
Although controversial, you can clearly see him choosing every single option throughout this arc in a way to minimize strife, provided that he has the option to do so. The only times his solutions fail is when he is ambushed by allies or enemies.
The author is unrelenting in showing the challenges and dangers of pursuing an utopia, and punishes thorfinn and everyone accordingly. If anything, Thorfinn's true virtue is moving forward despite the amount of suffering he has gone through.

With all this, it's insane to call him a cuck or an inept leader.
It might be that some readers have had too much of an easy existence to be able to relate to the story.
You can still be part of the wheel, but to publicly support it is incomprehensible.
Do better, don't be like Ivar.

RIP Einar.

Honestly ive been reading this for over a decade but goddamn this hardcore pacifism is too much. The fact that Thorfins been so hardcore no killing in situations like this is absurd. He needs to find a middle ground or at least explore the options. His creed works if its just him, but he has family and a whole civilization that look up to him. People are threatening their way of life and he just wants 0 violence no matter what. Philosophically wise this story fails its themes its trying to deliver and its just idealistic nonsense. Every other story that deals with similar themes of the cycle of violence, hatred and war, atleast have a nuanced take on these topics instead of Thorfins 0 violence policy no matter whats done to you. Stories like Attack on Titan, Berserk and Vagabond.
nuance and AOT in the same sentence is insane
