Almost like there are factions of wiser men within the natives that do not desire a total whipepout of outsiders and want a more peaceful outcome. If the outsiders are an issue, they need only leave as thorfin had originally intended when he figured out they could no longer stay.

It was at the hands of warmongers who thought violence the only option that the suffering happened in the first place.
