Thorfinn shouldn't have brought Ivar, Styrk and Ganglati in the first place. these 3 are basically the cause of the war
Doesn't matter who he brought really. Styrk and ganglait was obviously bad to hurry the plot along but strife would of taken root over land, blood and love

Do they, though? If peace is so popular, why does campaigning for war see so much success? Over Christmas, I met with some family members who think that threatening war with Canada and Mexico is proof that Trump is "brilliant negotiator". People like them won the last election.
Corporate lobbying using NGOs and think tanks. Also, the Republicans got smarter leaning more into social media that got them the Zuck to kowtow to them.
And Palestine is at peace now, is it? Palestine's retaliation is understandable given the circumstances they are in, but it has not gotten them an inch closer to peace.
And that's why conflict continues to exist until a compromise is achieved. The most important example that made peace through conflict possible is WWII which aided in the establishment of the UN.
If you're familiar with his broader body of speeches, you'd have seen MLK explain that destruction of property is not comparable to violence against persons.
Read between the lines. Both quotes imply violence as a necessity. Non-violence is just unrealistic in the volatile world controlled by emotional beings.
The south, which started the war in the first place, was explicitly doing so in order to install a government that would perpetuate slavery and race-based legal rights (or lack thereof) in perpetuity. An autocratic government did not take power as a result of a violent revolution because the violent revolutionaries lost.
What happened again? Did they decide to push through with dialog and let their men be killed by the South? Nope, they chose violence at the end. LMFAO

It hurts to see how much more peace costs than a war. To see that from the story that made me a pacifist hurts more. War is necessary sometimes but there's always people like Styrk who love to feast on the hell they bring upon others and sabotage every effort to a pacific resolution because their egos cannot bear it. Worst of all, they implant themselves like parasites into people who want to live in harmony and destroy that because that's fun to them.

I don't know what I expected when I read this chapter, but I know it wasn't that...

They make the stabbing so quick, so small, so little blood, so... real but so fake at the same time, I didn't even think it was anything serious. He'd be hurt, sure, but not dead. Then it came back to Einar, and all the blood... That last page, you can feel how empty Thorfinn feels, and honestly, I felt it a bit too. Einar has been with US, the readers, since chapter 55. That came out June 25th, 2009. Almost 16 years. I remember the transition to "Farmland Saga" and how hated it was. I was 14. I loved how violent and edgy the story was, so the transition was a bit jarring, but in a big way this series did help me appreciate stories with slower paces, stories that weren't just action.

I didn't think we'd see Einar die, at least not until some epilogue where it was old age or something. I thought it he would have a satisfying ending to his journey. Instead, it's just meaningless. At the end of the day, he died a meaningless death in a meaningless war, and even worse, haunted by the guilt that he, personally, took a life. I'm sorry, Einar. You deserved better.

So many aggressive reactions to this manga.. some comments are more disappointing than Einar being stabbed for upholding the peace. Why are these pessimistically aggressive people even reading and following the story?... Just stop reading it from now on? Wouldn't that solve your problem with the manga altogether rather than coming back to it only to nourish your pessimistic and aggressive take on life? Please, if you don't like the manga, stop reading it. If you want violence, choose another manga: this manga is about the consequences of violence and revenge, and finding alternative solutions. This will blow your mind and you will be shocked... read the name of the manga and make out its meaning. Understand that this manga was always named the same way despite of its depicted violence - that it had a particular goal in mind portrayed through a "(Vinland) Saga". Is your mind blown? Please stop reading this now if you don't agree with the idea of Vinland, pleaaaase staaaph noow  now, every time you read the name of the manga, make the active choice of avoiding it if you can't deal with what it is exploring. Do yourselves and us all a favor :notlikethis:

Anyway, Einar is still a hero. Now everyone knows what war is and can choose to flee in order to live in peace or instead really contribute to finding ways to avoid future wars. A dead person in war is someone's brother, sister, mother, father, son, daughter, lover and friend - never forget that. Aggression and taking lives hurt everyone in its immediate surrounding (ripple effect). Anger and negativity corrodes the body and mind: it's a poison. So, right now, everyone can understand Thorfinn (non-violence) but also the alternative devastating solution (violence). They have all lost family or friends now, killed someone's family and friends, and had their hearts and minds poisoned.

My only critique of Thorfinn is that he never showed them how strong he is and he never taught them self-defence so that they wouldn't live in fear. The arm cut might never have happened if he had done so as they would feel some security having skilled warriors (Hild, Thorfinn, and the viking soldiers). There's nothing wrong with knowing how to defend oneself without instigating violence. Building a fort was a good choice, but not the aggressions. The aggressions and fear started this, and now, they are stuck in this mess of added aggression and fear. They fleed from a problem but created the same problem elsewhere. At least now, like stated, all of them know the hurt and pain of war now, so they may make good choices from now on if they can deal with their rage and itching need for revenge. They all need to become like Thors and Thorfinn: True warriors (of peace and peaceful conflict resolution). These true warriors have at least security in knowing how to defend themselves, and could live with little to no fear (which is not the case for the rest yet). A true warrior necessarily also forgives, as Hild forgave Thorfinn, as Thorfinn forgave himself, as Thorfinn forgave the shaman and Askeladd, etc, so as to have no enemies.

Take care everyone :salute::hearts: be a good boi and gurl, and choose Vinland not Violence. Be true warriors :chad::glee:
Dude thinks he can tell others what to do because he can't accept that people don't like this garbage since they introduced muh girl power (I actually like Hilde as a character even if she's obviously just a prop for ideology), fucking viking trans rights and the fact that the whole conflict started at first not because of anything the cast did or the guys that brought weapons but because some Indian old fart had completely unrealistic visions of the fucking future where he equates UK settlers to the nords just because they are white (racist much, Yukimura?) and ends with a fucking nuke which was hilariously shit to say the least

Vinland used to be good and about all those themes you fucking love so much, shame that you and all the clowns in this comment section are too blind to see this Manga has been hot garbage ever since we entered a new age of politics and Yukimura decided to show his true colors as the cuck that he is. Yet you believe yourself to be some enlightened reader or wise man when you are nothing more than a little loser boy in a world of men.

I will read this garbage until the end because it is my duty to finish a story I've started, even if I think it's flaming garbage and you can't do anything about it.

Yukimura is a hack... he made both sides so perfect that he forced himself to write character getting a blunt induced future vision about some anglos dropping a bomb on japs (muh hiroshima) and that means that nords have to be culled or something (actually we just want their cool weapons, it's also not our fault for wanting them but theirs for bringing them here... wtf? Having this kind of unhinged neighbor proves that they needed swords).
Btw the women power thing didn't start with Hilde but with some extra commentary at the end of a volume about how somewhere they had found a nord woman buried with a sword... and that it meant she was a viking warrior. Therefore women can be warriors just like men. You can't make this shit up man Yukimura is simply retarded.

I am also cursed to read this bs and see how much harder it can crash.
