So, Leif seemed to age abruptly as soon as he arrived at Greenland. I think it's safe to assume that what was keeping his mind sharp up to that point was his desire for adventure and exploration, aside from his proximity with Thorfinn (the real one). He accompanied Thorfinn in Constatinople in a super long trip less than a year back. What kept him from travelling any more was Bug Eyes pretending to care for his health. So not only is Bug Eyes trash for stealing and fleeing to gamble, but also for being responsible of Leif being in the state he is now. If not for him, it'd be possible for Leif to keep being curious, alert and sharp for longer. I hate Bug Eyes so god damn much.

It is nice that the author mentions the Mi'kmaq by name (that's the plural, Mi'kmaw is individual). There is some debate about the origin of the name, but it generally means comrades, friends, family. I am interested to see if the author will have Thorfinn settling in L'anse-au-meadows in Newfoundland.

To be fair, Leif was looking significantly older (and was using a cane) when Thorfinn and co. got back to his birthplace when compared to what he looked like in the BSW arc. Even if Leif was still energetic and Bug-Eyes was there I don't think it'd be safe to take him on this arduous journey. Ugh, I feel sorry for all of those innocent people going on this trip considering the trouble the tattoo viking is about to start...
