Ivar must have been on raids against people that didn't put up effective resistance in the past... it's like he never considered that he "might not win this one" when he started down this path. Now same for the Lnu war-party. They have no idea what's going to hit them if Hilde and Thorfin decide to go all out.

Those guys are not coming out of this alive, so far Thorfinn has been the aggressor and the neutral party, the afflicted, but he has never been the leader of such a large amount of people that are on the defensive. Wonder where this goes.

Did Ivar really think he was gonna beat 12 guys at once?

He should've just played dead. The loss of his arm is his fault imo

The native Americans are both hunters and warriors... Forgetting that fact is deadly.
Plus, multiple tribes means that each group of people won't have the same way of thinking.
=> That was already the case back on their original continent, why would it be any different in this new land?

In many ways, this was inevitable even if a sword wasn't brought and Thorfinn knows this. That's why he so quickly folded when the tribes made it clear that the settlers were no longer welcome. Ultimately, Vinland wasn't the land of peace that he hoped for. Even if he didn't come as a warmongering conqueror, his arrival brought change that displaced the natives.

Ivar should have played Fire Emblem, he would have remembered the weapon triangle and that axes are weak to swords.

But seriously I wonder if Ivar is guaranteed dead from this or not? How quickly can someone bleed out from a clean below-the-elbow chopped off arm like that?

The sword definitely made things easier to go to shit and escalated stuff though. It's the same with the Cold War and nuclear weapons, yeah there would be conflict between people regardless, but introducing something to the playing field that is solely dedicated to killing other people and making it easier to kill and injure other people does have a meaningful effect on the conflict and issues and interactions.

He wanted war.
He got war.

Mission achieved Ivar, well done.
He actually didn't want war. There was a whole scene about that.

You know what, I'll just remind people. See chapter 200. Styrk, Helmet Bro, did a lot of manipulating to stoke fears and to let Ivar take some of Thorfinn's authority but that was done without Ivar's knowledge and he pretty directly rebukes it once he finds out.
