I'd imagine that it's a divorced man who also happens to have a dog, since a lot of pet owners refer to themselves as "[species of pet] parents".

Sure, most likely, but the fact is that none of us care.

From now on, the official canon is that the translator is a dog who is divorced, and took up translating manga in order to provide for his puppy.
