Thank you, and congratulations on finishing another volume! And an extra thanks for translating her feature on Joni Mitchell. I really like reading mangaka fangirl over things, it's both fun because of how they tell the fangirling stories, and informative because they also tell a lot about the artist.

And even in a manga about how much she likes a singer, she still makes us contemplate something with the symbolic dream...

Thanks for bringing Kimura's works to light, it was a nice read! Her art captures emotions and facial expressions pretty well (I love juxtapositions between "silly" gag faces and seriousness). Would be interesting to read Umibe no Kain (this was pretty influential apparently, right?). Though looking at her mangaupdates bio, she seems to have quite a few other interesting works as well

From that point, she continued writing stories during her school breaks which were published in magazines such as COM and Ribon Comic. During the 1960s and early 1970s, the settings for her stories were varied, including places like Auschwitz, Vietnam, and the slums of Rio de Janeiro, and they covered topics interesting to young girls, elaborately drawing out the feelings and motivations of her characters.

@temaccgdx Absolutely. It's criminal she was overlooked for so long. Her drawing power is overwhelming (and same here, though that's also manga dynamism for you 😉). Lucky for you, I will be doing Season in the Pocket (which includes some of the works mentioned in that quote) and Cain (which is a masterpiece, and the favorite work of Fumiyo Kono), among many other Kimura works, so there won't be any shortage of her to go through. Look forward to it!

That's great to hear, and an endorsement from Fumiyo Kouno is a very good indicator, she's also amazing
