Obvious bait and switch is obvious, still shitty. The whole interaction was made nonsensical all for a sake of pointless cliffhanger (was it also at the end of a LN volume or is LN author not as cheap?).

I don't like the sister, she is too self serving and overbearing (not in anyway good, despite what Renako tries to claim)

Ye... there is no way Kaho plot wist can not be stupid. Even if Renako also changed her family name there is still no way neither of them would have recognized each other - seems like a ad hock addition and bad one at that. I guess if they were in cramschool together for only few months and met at most once a school week... tho I still don't buy it. also also: cramschool in primary school?! has the world gone mad??? Unless she means learning french after school or something extracurricular like that, but I don't think you would call that cramschool.

On a positive note "I don't really want anyone to love me because I hate myself; I just don't want them to hate me" is a really good motivation for our protagonists actions and the self loathing was done quite well, A+ for that.

PS: I am perpetually baffled by people rooting for Mai, Ajisai is just better in every way and the MC likes her and being with her
( heck Mai isn't even in top 2, and that is despite Satsuki being sabotaged by the author by getting no screen-time [page-time?]). On that topic "I can't accept Ajisai's confession because it wouldn't be fair to Mai who has been confessing to me since the beginning of the manga and I have been rejecting her since then" is a moon-logic that only work as an excuse. Despite that Mai's accusation of being "led on" is not meritless (which basically never happens as 99% of the times when someone says they ware being led on they mean a person was nice to them or some shit) because of the events of the chapter in which Mai searches for the new partner in the most bat-shit way possible.
yes yes yes,
Mai bad, Ajisai good!
We get it, you people have been spamming the same shit for the past 9 years.
It's gonna be a poly ending prob anyways (see harem tag) so stop whining or go read oneshots

I stand with Renako. Mental health is the first thing you need to sorted out. Romance can wait.

Her throwing an "I wanna die" here cheapens the sentiment when someone is truly in their deepest pit of despair. I get she's down in the dumps due to hating herself, but that line rubbed me the wrong way.
I found that painfully relatable, actually. As someone who has suffered from chronic depression in my life, when I'm at my absolute lowest, the thought of dying is like a pressure release, giving me a chance to visualize a way out of suffering. Obviously it's not a healthy coping mechanism, but it is one I fully understand

I'm not questioning nor negating real life struggles of people experiencing depression, as I too have developed low self-esteem with irl connections over the years. But for me, the story has yet to properly show whether or not she can rightfully make that statement. For example, in the early chapters on Boy's Abyss, you can easily sympathize with the tragic MC, the suffocating interpersonal relationships he has, and you understand why he wants to commit suicide: to escape the hell he lives in. In here, what I got from the MC is a bit of a problem borne of privileges. Lots of loners like myself would kill for her position, and her hating herself for not being decisive enough and bringing others down isn't enough to warrant that line. For me, throwing that line willy-nilly devalues the sentiment that forces people to think to end it all.

I hope people keep posting that Mai sucks because she really, really sucks.

Mai sucks. She sucks a lot. The author shoehorning in poly with her doesn't make Mai suck any less.

suicidal ideation is rarely some rational decision you came to from how bad your life is. most frequently, it's a place you can't keep your mind away from no matter how much you reassure yourself that things are actually fine, nothing is wrong, your life is going in the right direction. to act as tho thinking about killing yourself is only valid in some particular circumstances and that it's devaluing it to portray someone dealing with intensive anxiety, self-hate, and depression as wanting to die is to fundamentally not engage with how suicidal ideation works, to essentially shame people who deal with it for experiencing it because you don't approve of them doing so.

I stopped reading this a long time ago after the main girl started flirting with that one tall black haired girl while still leading the original tall blonde girl along so my question is what’s been happening? is it a confirmed harem? The blonde lady finally winning whether that’s with someone better or the main girl? Is the main girl still annoying?

Commonly held position is going to be expressed often more groundbreaking news at 11.
I haven't been spamming shit, this is literally my first comment like that, which I made because of a genuine bewilderment at the comments in this very thread rooting for Mai to be endgame.

It's just someone not being able to fathom why you like a particular ship (in a aside part of a larger comment) no need to be so touchy.

I don't know if someone already said this (lazy. too much word, lol), but I will agree with this one. So, I say ...

I don't like renako's little sister.

Sorry for being rude but I extremely hate Renako's sister, she always disrespect her older sister and always impose her social expectation on her older sister. What she did to Renako is inhuman.
