well honestly all this ch proved was that Hime has always felt different about girls but since she wants to marry rich (or so she says) she acts the way she does

soo if Kanoko would have confessed back then who knows maybe hime would have accepted it you can even see how she reacted to Kanoko when she said the things she said when she was waiting for the girl who wrote the letter (aka Kanoko)

so if anything this is Kanoko loss because she chickened out in the end like she did and now since Yano is around confessed and even kissed hime and Kanoko see how Hime is acting towards it she sees she fucked up bad lol cause she could have had that

not to mention what makes it worse for Kanoko is that Hime and Yano are old friends making the whole bond for them even stonger cause of how they felt about each other before what happened happened

so yeah all in all Kanoko is an idiot though i can understand how she was feeling but she pretty much has to get over it and know that its way to late for her and Hime at this point and move on

though i know the regret is heavy as hell which is why she's been doing the stupid things she's been doing as of late

but yeah only thing thing she can do now is just watch and let the obvious happen and watch Hime fall for Yano as Kanoko Missed her chance

with that said i wonder how much longer this series will be going on for as with this part coming to an end all thats left is for Hime and Yano to obviously get together UNLESS things become unpredictable and it doesnt happen (which would be fun)

but we'll see

So I was thinking of writing a long paragraph of how watayuri tends to build up each part of the story and how if you go back you start to notice things, and how if you simplify both Sumika and Hime, you end up with the same character, but I'm just going to point this out:

So... what happens next? Will Sumika encourage Kanoko to properly confess to Hime, at the risk of losing her; or will she try to convince Kanoko to let Hime go in order to be her girlfriend?

Both options sound appealing to me for different reasons so I'm not that intrigued by it.

Hime will reject Kanoko with a 100% chance. Hime puts up the mask, on how she feels, but Hime actually is in love with Yano. I:m pretty sure of it. Hime may have openly rejected Yano, but inside that's another thing. I:m staying with KanokoxSumika ship, and HimexYano ships.

My comment isn't particularly aimed at you specifically, I've seen quite a couple more comments expressing similar thoughts, but it really rubs me the wrong way how people assume that just because Hime probably likes girls, she would have simply accepted Kanoko had she confessed first.

Hime has always been very moved by how Yano tries her hardest at everything and how seriously she takes things, it's the very reason why she first gravitated towards her. Hardworking, competent people are attractive to most. Even when she didn't recognize Yano as her childhood friend, all she wanted was to get along with the cool onee-sama and be liked by her.

On the other hand, she has never looked like she might be attracted to Kanoko in any shape or form, in fact she only approached her cause she reminded her of how Yano was incapable of ''putting on a façade'' to fit in.

I feel like Kanoko's only redeeming quality was accepting Hime for who she is, which I'm sure is a huge thing for Hime, but in reality it is the bare minimum one should expect from a friend, and now she's surrounded by nice friends who know and accept the real her.

TLDR: Nothing implies that Hime wouldn't have rejected Kanoko. She even rejected Yano, despite being obviously attracted to her.

People in the comments hating on Kanoko as if their very life depended on it, or as if she killed their dog...
A Highschool girl who has clear issues communicating with others and a hatred for everyone finds someone who brightens her world and she can't even confess despite the intense surge of emotions she might feel for said girl... Let's ignore that and focus on her being "crazy" and hateable!

Jokes aside though... That was a really good chapter. Basically Kanoko felt a strong urge to express her feelings for Hime, but felt that doing so risk losing her what made her special to Hime, so she chose the safest route. It makes sense for her to be so freaked out now with Yano making such clear progress with Hime unlike everyone else. It was stated that she hates when Hime gets confessed to, because dating someone, means she spends less time with her only friend. And now that she took Hime rejecting everyone for granted, Yano came in and proved that Hime can indeed fall in love with others, essentially putting her back into "Alarm mode". And now that Yano did what Kanoko always wanted to do and didn't suffer the consequences that she feared so much, she's having a meltdown.

It's definitely a very straining situation to be in, and very saddening. She won't be able to be peaceful unless she moves on from her feelings for Hime.
Although, while reading this chapter I found myself thinking, there is a little solution that Kanoko could go for, albeit it's very hard to achieve and quite risky because of that.
Kanoko could try her hardest to secure herself a solid job, which would in-turn land her a good, stable salary. She could become the rich person that Hime is after.... Although, from the visuals that we got of Hime's dream, the wealth she is after is probably only achieved by marrying into a big name of sorts, huh...
Well, it's an idea I guess.... Good chapter!

Oh yeah, Hime 100% knew. She just kept it as such and turned it back to Yano later in the same way. Jeez. Sumika though, bb you're too good for her. Let her figure herself out and go to Nene.

I feel Sumika could make a big play soon. If she reveals to Hime that she has romantic interest in Kanako, it could force Hime to confront her own feeling for Kanako if she has any. Then again Kanako did promise to Hime that they would never fall in love with anyone so Hime may see any romantic pursuit in Kanoko as fruitless. Could be spicy.

After reading the comments, I never knew Kanako was so despised. I figured pretty much everyone is flawed (as people, not as characters) and selfish in their own way so it's hard to actually single out someone, but there was never anything that would make me dislike Kanako. She's not as antagonistic as Goeidou or a complete scumbag villain so it's hard for me to grasp on why a character who's purpose (just like other protagonists in drama) is to strengthen drama and attempt to find a way to reconcile that drama in a drama series.
