Not sure. I think comments may get wiped after a few years. I've noticed this on some other manga I've read, but I'm also new to this website so idk for sure.

It looks like technical problems. Like the data being corrupted and erased, and not having backup.

At some point ~2-3yrs ago mangadex had all their comments wiped, I think because the site was down for a time. You’ll see it on almost every manga, comments up until ~2yrs ago then it’s either 0 or the few people who have commented on those chapters since comments were re-enabled

Some series (not just chapters ) got their comments slated clean recently. Maybe it depends per group scans?
