This whole subplot is getting stupid. It's jumped the shark given how far into the trope it's gotten.

This is so retarded. So yes, we all know how it is going to end but really? Evil noble lady. Nobody does anything about it.
The knights follow her orders. The friend (katie) sides with her, either because of circumstances or for some asininine forced reason.
Can it be more stupid and cliche? And at the end, the evildoers will be punished and all the friends will be happy together!
Come on, it's too cliche even for this type of manga. This is not even shonen-type at this point, it's more simplistic than that. Maaaaaybe as retarded as the cultivation manhua Young Master trope. Maybe.
At this point, at least give us some shocking twist. Have him just go evil overlord, burn the kingdom to the ground and murder anyone who opposes him. At least that way it MIGHT be still interesting.

This is the most common line used in the worst way possible. The only reasonable answer is "Regardless of your reasons, you are dead to me. And if your actions hurt an innocent person, you throw away any semblance of pride and honor and I will personally kill you."

The issue with the "don't take it personally" thing is that... it goes both ways.
"Dont take personally that my Order decided to work for the evil overlady and I'm now threatening you and your precious people"
Ok, but YOU should also not take personally the fact that your Order is now my enemy and I'm going to fight hard and maybe even kill you.
Of course, given how... childish this manga is, I don't expect it to go this way. But in a more realistic and grim story, that might happen
And for the record, I do think that Katie is just doing what she is supposed to do as vice head of that Order. And she's probably thinking of how to help him. But still that's still no excuse for this situation imo, if your order start siding with assholes like these.

She's thinking about the needs of the many over the needs of the one. Thanks to the asshole former leader the credibility of the Silver Wing troop is shit. In order to prevent the 50-100 people under her command from going jobless/foodless/homeless she needs the backing of a high-ranking noble to rebuild their credibility.
The bitch-minister is the only one that even gave them a chance, so of course she has to follow orders otherwise she might as well disband the Silver Wing troop. It's not like the bitch directly ordered her to attack Denis, it was just a series of unfortunate events that got them in that position. Even the bitch was surprised, that's why she praised her dumbass kid for giving her an opening to get rid of Denis.
