The protests in Hong Kong right now.
Christians and elderly standing in between protestors and riot police to lower the risk of injuries.
Protestors and Police growing angrier and angrier at each other with the violence used by both sides escalating. Both sides have been recorded harming bystanders even those there to calm tensions such as an unarmed lady (other similar occurrences also occurred) urging police to not injure others but was instead served with pepper spray and dragged off.
Protestors vandalizing property, Police beating people inefficiently(ie. according to training and regulations, going for the arms, not the head or legs AND ONLY FOR SELF-DEFENCE not to retreating or unarmed and non-hostiles).
No instructions from the police on where the disbanding route were (The protests were usually legally applied for thus should have routes not that they are now being followed or maintained).
Tear gas and plastic bullets fired sometimes without proper warnings (again legal requirement).
Both sides believing each other to be enemies: Protestors misdirectedly lashing out at the police due to the folly of political leaders. police forgetting that they are supposed to protect citizens and antagonized; see following quote, he has forgotten that he shouldn't charge because they are the people the police should protect.
"Pro-democracy lawmaker Ted Hui Chi-fung is at the scene urging police not to charge at protesters any more. An officer responds through a loudspeaker that it was protesters who attacked police first, adding: “Why should we retreat?”
“It wasn’t us who wanted to use tear gas! They threw bricks at us!”"
South China Morning Post
BUT WORST OF ALL, suspected triads (wearing white, important later) saying that they support the government running into train/stations and beating people with metal and wooden bats (kudos to the men protecting women and elderly without fighting back); not only protestors but anyone unlucky to be there at the time. Some are severe and critically hospitalized. Then when police arrived 30-45mins after they made no arrests saying that they saw people in white in large gatherings but didn't see any weapons. Hong Kong still has 48hour questionings, they should have at least been questioned; when crime occurs the police are supposed to find out what happened! When turf wars happen, police generally take everyone into questioning regardless on the intent to lay charges. This is no different; except it was just one-sided violence.
Then we have the political leaders, hiding behind the police; forcing them against the protestors they were supposed to protect. Not taking any responsibility, neither pacifying or coming to an understanding with the protestors. Rumors that the escalation is according to plan for Mainland China to send forces into HK; imposters in protestors and police to heighten tensions, poor leading to strip HK of its own governing authority.
Tl;dr Please read any peace of news regarding HK protest.
