What are your greatest rational and irrational fears/anxieties? Totes not scarecrow. Totes won't use your fears against you or sell them to the secret police.

Rational: That once I've lost touch with my friends, neither of us will make the effort to reconnect if our lives walk along very different paths in very different directions.
Irrational: Being gifted a large amount of unmarked bills. My luck could never be that good, so that just means someone is trying to set me up to take a huge fall while they lay low and reap the benefits.

@sterven Your avatars are getting more and more risque. Giant flying roaches is rational af. Armed with radiation and the power of pure and unadulterated hate, there can be no greater threat.

Rational: My cousins giving my grandma Covid19 because their mother (my aunt) is an anti-science, anti-vax, conspiracy theorist.

Irrational: Some random outer space shit destroys the planet. That new image of a black hole gave me existential anxiety.

Why does everyone keep saying that? It's the same lvl of exposure as all my other ones.

Nah they're not scary at all when they are standing still or crawling around. I guess I should alter it to the sound they make when flying since that's what kicks in the flight or fight mode for me.

My greatest rational fear is getting dementia or some other neurological disease. There's only a 7.2% chance of getting dementia if you're 65 and a 1 in 6 chance if you're 80, I understand that. But losing my mind is still the scariest thing in the world to me. I'm already building exit strategies because of how much it scares me.

My greatest irrational fears are things like entering a cluttered room full of things that I don't recognize, old timey music, falling asleep, nursing homes, complete silence, and liminal spaces

@sterven Locusts are even worse if you ask me. They "always" torpedo directly for the face and the sounds they make when they do and the way they seem to vibrate is anxiety inducing.

Rational: Choking on food to death. It is the most pathetic way to die, and I don't want to go out that way.

Irrational: The weirdest one I have is Trypophobia. A fear of small holes bunched together. Apparently, a quick google search claims it's not officially recognized yet, but trust me it's real.

@deerafl Don't worry, you'll come back as a ghost with the unfinished business of blasting your internet cache. "OoooOOOooo blast my caaaache!!!!"

Rational: The world is itching for a re-distribution of resources and doesn't mind wasting more resources for a bigger share/pretending thats it not.

Irrational for others I guess: I believe that in the time of the now but not yet. There will be increasing disasters, I may live or not live to see the second coming of Christ but I do believe disasters natural, unnatural, or natural disasters caused primarily due to human decisions will continue to grow in magnitude and frequency.

rational: high heights/falling to my death. i thought i had overcome this by being forced to visit locations such as canyons and the empire state building, however i learned the hard way that it never left after encountering a spiral staircase with high steps and little footing (this was a condo that i was staying in with my family). fucking hated it, i had to pay attention every time i used it because it was really easy to fall down

irrational: being murdered. this grows weaker every passing second because of lack of social contact in general, and its growing weaker even faster now because of the quarantine. i played tf2 as a kid, and i would have my back against my wall when i slept because i was afraid of being backstabbed lol

sorry for the rant, but i've never really talked about these types of things with anyone before. i really hoped i used the definitions correctly

Mine are quite embarrassing ( ꈍᴗꈍ) Honestly, as an adult, I only have one rational fear, which is poverty. But I still remember that the kid me (around 3 to 5 years old?) had a quite crippling irrational fear; I was afraid that everything outside my perception doesn't really exist.

My parents were quite inconvenienced by it since I tended to follow them, or at least one of them, everywhere and I had difficulty falling asleep, pass kindergarten and till the first couple years of elementary school. Mobile phone helped.

Rational: I guess Covid, with the actual pandemic and all that, plus I live with my grandma and I know that if I catch the disease I will spread it to my grandma and she will probably die.

Irrational: Dissapoint my parents. The young ones on this site probably wont undertand this, but as you get old you start to think on your real important people. Of course my parents are my most important people on my life, and I think of all they have done for me, like taking care of me and paying for my education. When you get old you start to think of ways of repaying that to them, and dont letting your parents down and be a good person and accomplish meaningful things, like finding a proper job or finnishing a school carrer are good ways of repaying your debt to them, because they want to see you become a useful person. Ind the end I know my parents will love me nontheless, but that feeling its always with me.
