I'm hoping we maybe see a heart-to-heart conversation with Seto and Anjou's mom. Maybe something that will just "click" for him?
I think that's a realistic event. To be fair, it appears my perspective is lesser held than I would think, judging from the comments. While he did overcome his reticence several times, I personally don't feel as though there's been an "epiphany" moment in the sense of his character. Plenty of moments tied to and facilitated by Anna and her support, but nothing "earth-shattering". Mama Anjou and Komaki are interesting sounding boards and influences by which Seto has opened his "world" further on several occasions. It's a nice usage of their presence, stimulating the MC rather than just "providing" the answers. Seto's growth is such an integral part of the story, I admit to being surprised that so many expected a "night and day" change in him, based solely on his "success" in certain situations, big picture he's still very insecure.

I mean she noticed he was feeling down, hugged him and said "relax, I don't really want to do the long-distance thing anyway." She reassures him a lot and he ignores it. He didn't even ask what she meant by that. Just back to his own world once again. He gets a lot of reassuring pretty consistently. A this point he needs a therapist to talk to and work through whatever issues he's having.
I don't know if he ignores it... Or if that's simply the expression of his crippling self-doubt. He oscillates between having the courage to act, and constantly questioning himself. He's not often portrayed anymore as questioning Anjou's feelings, more his own "worthiness".

What uni/career is he aiming for anyways?
That's the whole point, he still has no idea. He only knows that he enjoys studying, but even the experiment where he tried to get 100 on one particular subject didn't get clarity cause the guy went ahead and got 100 on multiple subjects lmao.

He will figure it out, it's a big part of his character. There's a reason why right before his confession he said "When will one day be? Is it when I figure out what I want to do in the future/with my career?"

Yeah I don't mean he consciously ignores it.

Hey, it's Seto doing his self-deprecating schtick for a change.
Anjou must have the patient of a saint to deal with this 24/7.

Normally I’d agree but this time I’ll give him a pass. Never had a gf or a relationship like this myself but I’ve seen it happen and play out with my friends with their partners. Only one friend is still with the same partner she had in high school and she goes to college across the country from her bf
ahahahahahahaha, yeah, long distance ALWAYS goes well in college

I 100% agree with this. The change is slow and progressive but it makes a lot more sense than him saying “oh, I have a girlfriend now. All my insecurities about every part of my life are now gone - yup, it’s all figured out”

Anjou saying yes to his confession is only one part of it. Like Inuyama said, he has shown that he’s on her level as a partner when he confronted the PE rep to defend her honor. But that’s just one isolated event that shows he knows and understands that he and Anjou have something worth cherishing together. It’s plenty of growth, but these events don’t mean that every other insecurity he has is gone.

That's actually not very reassuring. You might interpret it as she'd be willing to sacrifice everything to stay with him, but it could be just the opposite. She might mean it to be reassuring, but that doesn't mean that's the only way to read into it, nor that that will be how he hears it. He's insecure, so he needs more definite wording in order to understand her intentions, otherwise he's going to be taking everything in the worst way.

She's been very definite. We're not going to act like she's been, in any way, ambiguous. He can have his issues to work through and that's fair but that's all on him. Many women would tire of needing to reassure someone so constantly but this being a manga she will of course always be the nicest person and never say much about it. Either way that's got nothing to do with her. She's giving him everything she's got.

Seto's usually anxious but the way he's feeling now is pretty understandable. Anjou said she wanted to stay in her hometown in the past, go to a vocational school nearby, and eventually work in her mom's salon. On the other hand, Seto will most likely go to a top university with his grades. It was already hinted that he could go to Tokyo U which is pretty far from where they currently live.

Choose a school near hers. The end.

Also, seriously, how does he not have a first, second and third choice by now? Every HS in Japan drags that out of every student at least once a year, if not more often.

I read as Anjou knows what she wants to do. But Seto doesn’t know what he wants to do and what type of college he’s going for. Anjou and everyone else already has their goals and aspirations. So Seto feels farther apart from not just Anjou, but all his friends

Thing is, he doesn't know. That's been one of his basic character traits all along: he studies for the sake of studying. He has absolutely zero idea where it's gonna take him, either in the immediate future or long-term (both of which he's reminded of here).

Which is really unrealistic for a top-rate student in Japan. As I alluded to earlier, his homeroom teacher would've dragged a list of school choices out of him long before now.
