Dying out of spite to those who never understood you...I can understand that.
Honestly, hitting the wall you can never climb, knowing that no matter how much time and efforts you spend you won't get better, it's the worst feeling in the world. You can't blame someone who suffers from it. You can't judge their choices

what’s “that” type of attack :finnawoke:
In the previous chapters, we talked about retirement, where they get protective magic applied to prevent monsters gettign revenge on them...but only if they used up all their magic beforehand.
That type of attack probably used up all her magic, so she didn't heal.

For as much talk as she gives about wanting to help Akari, she sounded an awful lot like the ward manager in the first chapter, and wasn't much kinder in the next chapter.

Surprisingly, she does actually show up in the Manager's flashback, but the flower hair girl does not.

This may just be my interpretation, but when her kouhai abruptly cheered up and apologized out of nowhere, she probably resolved herself to die right then and there. (Sometimes suicidal people IRL suddenly get happier once they've firmly decided to die.)
I have to say the happiest and most at peace I've been in recent memory was when I was planning a sewerslide. Unfortunately, that was a while ago. But as Silfir said, the sudden shift is just realizing that there was no more meaning (poetic) in talking to the white hair girl, and just shutting up and saying whatever would get her out of the conversation.
