I never understood why people say suicide is selfish. The person committing suicide is the one that's dying. We don't charge murderers based on how much trauma they inflicted on their victim's family or to bystanders; we charge them because they murdered someone. And I don't understand how it's so hard to think, suffering is bad -> dying means no more suffering. The fact that it's "irresponsible" is your problem, not mine. To me the biggest reason to not kill yourself is, especially if you're young, is that you still have the rest of you're life to live. A lot of people develop depression and experience the hardest years of their lives in their teenage years, the transition from child to adult, and that makes up a small part of your whole life. I don't think it necessarily makes going through that hard time easier, though.
If you're selfish, why do you care so much about being selfish?
Also, about the previous chapter, what's more important than your absolute ability is your comparative advantage. Even if you really suck at being a magical girl, if practicing more leads to better results than not practicing, then it's fine isn't it? Normal people can't end wars or cure cancer, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't still give up your seat to an elderly person. No one feels depressed that they can't do the former. If her work as a magical girl gives her enough money or helps her stay alive, then any people she can help from it is just a bonus.
Reason doesn't immediately turn into emotion, and emotion comes up with it's own reasons, but I don't think all obvious advice becomes useless, it just becomes insufficient when the problem gets worse and becomes more complex.
