Bittersweet... but still a good ending.

I assume the author decided to bring it to an end because the anime didn't do so hot. Thankfully this feels like the author bringing it to a close instead of the manga getting the axe. Manga's that get the axe typically feel a lot more rushed.

I'm sure there were more stories to tell with these characters, but the author managed to wrap everything up pretty nicely imo. The fact this came from the same guy who did Dagashi Kashi... Man, what a whiplash in tone. I can't wait to see what he does next!

i hate seeing this go. i do have complaints though. we never got confirmation that turning while the vampire is in love kills. to my knowledge, what we saw was that they died when the sun came up and it felt kinda ambiguous as to what killed them. i could just be misremembering but im fairly sure thats what happened.
that's how I remember it as well. although, I would understand why they don't want to test their theory any further.
would have been nice if that vampire mentioned gave concrete evidence one way or the other.
Still, I wouldn't have expected much more without the characters knowing what was or wasn't safe for them to do.

they "together" but they still have the same problem that split them in the first place.
plus, everything was just made dumber by "i guess the established rules about 1 year periods and half vampires aren't really working now". So do they work? Or not? If they work, why she suggests the forever tag game? If they don't work, why bother with blood pack?
he just mixed up his own rules and didn't resolve anything, it's like the chapter 198 redo, but this time it's ended before they split up again.
If i was the editor, I would tear author's hands off and slap him in his face with them. Cause he needed it.

art is great, characters are CUTE, I love it, but those type of endings. UGH.
wasn't that butthurt since sket dance
I'm also kind of confused, regarding the blood pack he said "it's mine" so is that fresh blood or is it from 3 years ago?
I also agree with you that the author should've tried to explain Nazuna being born as a vampire & Kou's half vampire still working after 3 years, should've at least tested with other vampires to see if his blood tastes bad
(since the detective's blood tastes bad to vampires because she's past the 1 year limit)

At least it was not the worse ending possible which I thought was highly likely. It was still a meh ending which still sucks buteither way, an ending that gives no emotions is better than one that just brings rage.

Kinda empty ending, we never really learn what the hell both Nazuna and Kou are.

I mean, Kou has vampire powers without the disatvantages.

And out of the eternity.

Im pretty sure there are workarounds around their condition.

Japanese authors prefer the open endings over the chance of incurring hate.

Tbh i would have prefered the tragic ending over this...

Pain is an emotion, this is just nothingness.

With the ending done, I think I can say that I wasn't satisfied with the general direction of the series. I liked the tone and the premise of vampires and love being intermixed and was curious how it could explore different kinds of relationships, how they work, change, created, destroyed, but to me it was a fumbled bag that dragged on a bit longer than it should have. It felt like the author didn't have a clear grasp on what the story would be nor how vampires worked aside from the general idea, and it sorta felt like he wrote himself into a corner and lost steam unless there was something behind the scenes that made him end it sooner than he wanted to that left the plot threads of how Nazuna might be different compared to other vampires as a natural vampire, or Kou as a half-vampire.

I honestly did not like the conflict Kiku brought aside from the strays which didn't appear at all past the initial encounter, how vampires were handled, the fights, and the story in general, and aside from the art, the plot just felt boring & stagnant after a certain point.

As for the ending, I did not like it either. It ain't the worst, but I don't like rom-coms that end after the main relationship barely progressed into confession.

Anyway, that's my hot take, I am gonna continue reading secret of the alien

I feel like there were some plot threads unanswered, such as fem MC's parents or the specifics of half vampire state/vampire death through love, but there's also something to be said against stretching a series on too long as so many manga do. Overall I'm fairly satisfied, at least we have a confirmed couple unlike the "maybe" of author's last work. Ty for the translations
