Not with a bang, but a whimper?

While it wasn't a "bad"(negative) ending... Much like Dagashi, its quite unsatisfying, quite lacking. Open endings can be beautiful, impactful and thought-provoking... This one fails to be anything but generally positive (if only in that they reconnected and she said she loves him) and overly vague and nonchalant. It actually RAISES more significant questions than there were prior. While in many instances there's an intention of "leaving it up to the reader" to decide what the end is, given the pattern, and the numerous better ways this could have been closed off, it just feels lazy and uninspired. Overall a wonderful series, but the ending falls exceedingly flat for me... Like running to the edge of a cliff to leap into glorious flight, and unceremoniously tripping to slide off the edge.
Disappointing.

As ever, my thanks to all who worked on the scanlation.

I'm reminded of the ending to Re-Take. Both of them actually. I love seeing the detective's manurisms in Kou. Not bad.

Edit: It occurs to me there are two ways to read this manga. One is as a romantic manga, which I think is why so many people are disappointed. I choose to read it as a coming of age story. Look at the difference between chapter 1 Kou and now. He is confident, no longer lost, and no longer just wandering through his life. I think if you read it that way, it becomes far more satisfying.

Ok ending, but:
MC half vampire: "I don't know"
FMC half vampire: "Unique case, but she is the same of others" why that matter so?
Why the FMC can't bite anymore the MC if the year passed and he can't transform full vampire anymore?
I would be more ok with this ending if the author would explain things.....

I guess it's.... a kind of happy ending? They'll keep up their relationship of tag basically it sounds like forever until he gets to the point he can't chase her around the globe anymore, but it's bitter that they can never really do anything more than that. The dumb author even hinted that it is strange that the guy can still transform into a half vampire after three years, why not make that something more relevant to their situation possibly being different?

Instead here we go again with another multiple year time skip basically resulting in a "Hey, I'm back." just like the author's last manga Dagashi Kashi. Probably safe to skip this author from now on if you want a proper relationship ending.
Tbh in the 1st chapters I thought this wouldn't even get a romance.

Some questions left unanswered but a lot better than Dagashi Kashi's ending.

Haven't read this in a while; the opinions on the final chapter seems to be divisive.

Just like with Dagashi Kashi, if I find one decent enough to fulfill the duty, I will consider said doujinshi the canon ending to this and no one will change my mind

Was that seriously supposed to be an ending? We got an unnecessary time skip, and the author didn't even bother going into why ko is still a half vampire, or could nazuna being a vampire from birth make her any different

It feels like the author got way over his head with the vampire stuff and decided to give up

i made an account just to call out how horseshit this ending is. what a complete fucking disappointment, kotoyama really cant do endings. WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THE HALF VAMPIRE THING? THE PROMISE TO KIYOSUMI? THE UMBILICAL CORD? NAZUNAS MOTHER? i sincerely regret ever getting into this. i was worried when people said that it was gonna end by 200 because i wondered how it was possible to tie up every loose end by then. turns out IT WASNT. this sucks. i have wasted my life just by reading this.

I swear some people in this comments section wouldn’t be satisfied by the ending unless Ko and Nazuna got married and then had 15 pages of hot sweaty vampire sex
it's all fun and e.t.c. until u realize if this story so realistic as many persons there say, then if they're didn't go further kisses, there's a too open cheating opportunity, it's all stands only on their honor for each other, but even this doesn't bother people irl. furthermore yes, it'd be good solid point, not just open like this. we have that he'll just comeback school after winter holidays and Nazuna stays somewhere in countryside? he isn't even showed affection to his gf. we actually don't really know if he loves her at all, not comparing in sense how much she loves him. but if she'd break bed being on him then yes, yknow, it says smth in the end of the end more strictly.
