from what I can tell we are up-to-date.

The release schedule is because, from what I remember hearing/reading somewhere, Azuma doesn't have a schedule for the series. He just sorta works on it whenever and delivers finished chapters whenever he's satisfied with them. He's under no obligation from the publisher to deliver X chapters a year or finish one every month or two.

The series is like 22 years old at this point, so when you consider that we're at 114 chapters that means that we've averaged maybe 5 chapters a year.

The thing is though, the first ~7-8 years of this series did adhere to the monthly serialization schedule that Dengeki Daioh goes by. It was around the 10th year anniversary mark of the series that Azuma started to not strictly stick with the monthly serialization schedule he had done previously for the last 10+ years; that's when he adopted his "it's done when it's done" work habit, which I feel was spurred on by the supremely remarkable success of the series.
