Oh, you're in for a wild ride. :meguu: I've got all of them up to the latest release, and geez, the story and worldbuilding is great. But yes, first games in the arcs are usually a bit slower to take off, but when it does.... Hoooo boy. XD
they were great games. i was most impressed by the level of detail the devs gave to optional character dialogue. every npc in the game has their dialogue (x2 usually, talking to them twice) change after every single story progression. though it's by no means an AAA game, checking in with all the no-face npc's and getting to know their particular stories and quirks does more for worldbuilding than an extra few million dollars of budget ever could. it's no wonder the series has multiple games that make it on to the list of longest video game scripts. and i insist of reading them all :chad:

The downside of that big script is that it sometimes take longer for the games to be translated to ENG. :aquadrink: Thankfully, you're in a good spot. Most of them have been translated except the very last game, which is still in Japanese (Kuro no Kiseki 2 aka Trails into Daybreak 2). And the ENG version is slated to come out next year.

yeah i've still got 4 games to go before i'm fully caught up lol, so at least i'm in no rush. ended up spoiling some of the plot a while back and decided to take a break to forget as much as i could (and to play other games). looking forward to seeing how Falcom wraps up everything in the final slew of upcoming games

Ah yes, a true connaisseur. :02: I played the 6th and up, and played some of the remakes. =/ Oh, I think I did play the one that featured Rizna, that's 5D, IIRC.
In case you only played the Mangagamer versions then yes, they started with Rance 5D and Rance VI. Rizna and Magic the Gandhi respectively as newly introduced cover girls (if we exclude Kichikuou Rance) as a matter fact. The fan versions were only until Sengoku Rance (Mangagamer hired the same translator at first), and someday the last games (Rance 03 and X, maybe 04) will be finished. What pains me is that Alicesoft Fandom is gone.

Yeah, I played the fan translated version of Sengoku multiple times, and bought the Rance Quest from Mangagamer. And played Helman Revolution, which was good too. ^^

Crystalis on the NES is one of my favourite old games. I bought that SNK collection on the Switch pretty much exclusively for it so I wouldn't have to fight with my NES to play it again.

Lufia games on the SNES are still pretty good, but are kind of a nightmare to play now because of how slow everything is.

There's a bunch of PS1 games that I still like and go back to every now and then. Mostly Alundra, Lunar and Wild Arms.

I have fond memories playing Breath of Fire II. Since I wasn't paying much attention to the dialogue, I did stuck on where to go at some points of the story and I had to recheck all the known areas until I found the right area to go.

I also remember getting stuck because the game forced you have certain members in your party at some points in the story and they were weak as hell due to underuse (Sten is one example. His forced fights were pissing me off).
