Lol 2nd manga in a row that I read that has a masturbating scene lol, at least this one doesn't include a clay leg
Re:masturbation, my second manga today (and our second with Kurumi in this series), but more importantly I realized something interesting with this. She is biting herself, then says she is doing it to make herself feel good. That suggests she is consciously aware of associating pain with feeling good, which is the first time we've been shown this. She denied being a masochist and hasn't sought it out since then, but she wants to now that she is having a hard time. Congrats Kurumi. Also, it's another way for Naoi to come the rescue.

At this point, Kurumi should probably call the police.
Her mother who is the homeowner gave Kokoro a key with the purpose of watching over Kurumi.

If her mother confined her to home for several hours ostensibly for her safety or punishment, the police would undoubtedly side with the mother. Almost certainly a proxy of her mother would be treated the same.

Ultimately, police are poor help, especially when you're being victimized by someone with formal/legal authority over you like a parent (or someone they asked to watch over you) or a teacher.

This is genuinely true. Unless they have solid proof of wrongdoing, the authority figure most likely won't be held accountable. And adults in this series have seemed of the useless variety in general. Kokoro for example had been acting oddly for quite some time, yet her parents did nothing meaningful to help. Of course when they're finally held accountable is when the fingers start to be pointed because such irresponsible people don't want to face consequences. I'm sure this will happen with Horie-sensei at some point too. Likely pushing all the blame onto Isanuma when he went along with it for his own selfish motives.

In this case there is pretty solid proof that the mom just intends to leave Kurumi alone indefinitely. Though, on second thought, Kurumi is probably old enough that this could be seen as justified. It's not like she's 12. There's also no school in session which means relatively less oversight.

I still feel like she's getting to the point where she can't make things much worse. Police don't normally help, but she's in a situation where more eyes on her is a good thing (barring a scenario where Kokoro is successfully cowed). She could also call police if mom self injures and there would be evidence in the injuries. The police will likely be called on her if she runs away anyway, so taking the initiative means she would get her story out first. Like pretty much everyone around her is insane and relentlessly drawing attention to that would give her slightly more leverage, as otherwise people are going to do terrible things to her anyway.

I understand why she doesn't call the police though. I wouldn't either. Feeling scared and disempowered, I would be inclined to try being on the run at least through summer break. Or, if it was me when I was Kurumi's age, to emotionally shut down and let Kokoro do what she wants to get the bad stuff over with.

Would be interesting if they manage to get the key away from Kokoro and Kurumi ends up giving it to Naoi at some point. Then they'd be informally living together in the present. It would also prevent Naoi from needing to stay in those sketchy abandoned love hotels.

That's actually a really good solution, lol. How did we not think of it earlier? Naoi is not going to prioritize getting money over protecting Kurumi from a probable rapist. She could simply quit the Kudou activities, stay with Kurumi, and as a bonus she gets to stay away from Dad of Domestic Violence until Kurumi's mom comes back. Much better than police, even if Naoi didn't get the spare card and had to share with Kurumi.

Edit: Also, I just noticed the glass with blood on it on the cover, some of which is lodged in Naoi. Naoi is totally busting in through the window, isn't she?

No you shouldnt, hear that Kurumi? You shouldnt, just wait a little more and the only person who actually cares about you will show up, do NOT resort to doing something gross with this freak, I was relieved enough that she didnt already fo anything after the end of the last chapter but with how Kurumi's state is now im so worried

As for the end of the chapter, I have to wonder how Kurumi will respond. Because she just had an angry outburst at Kokoro for letting herself in uninvited a second time. Went off about not caring what Kokoro thinks. And even talked about how mad she was at everyone for being so selfish, Kokoro included. And the first thing Kokoro thinks to say is to ask Kurumi for sex. While I hope Kurumi gives Kokoro a flat rejection, Kurumi's mental state might cause her to initially go along with it before later backing out because it's not what she really wants. At that point Kokoro might try to force things, so that Naoi will get to have her moment in the spotlight next chapter when she disrupts things.
Kurumi is in an incredibly unstable mental position but I don't think it's in the way where she'd actually agree to have sex with kokoro at this point, though atp with kokoro's own mental state I don't really see much way out of this manga getting the 'sexual violence' tag added to it, regardless of whether Karumi agrees initially or not. I would kinda like it if Karumi shoves the fact that she was thinking about naoi while doing it into kokoro's face in order to really get under her skin, but she's likely too mad/upset/worried over the phonecall to do it.

Worst outcome is definitely Naoi coming around at just the wrong moment and causing a full blown misunderstanding arc, where it's coming in from both ends, and considering this is early-ish into the volume I can easily see one of those coming up. I really really really really hope it doesn't, though.

Enjoy!

toxic yuri keeps hitting new peaks
The toxic ones are always good.

Girl does horrible things to you?,slowly twist it into you being her caretaker instead!

And from the same artist(I really need to catch up with it),your sugar dating isn't going well?,find another chick who you'll sugar date with even more random men even harder for!

Your GF is too busy with club?,let someone else devour your emotions like a wasp larva!

Don't like your your office colleague?,deck her face so much that you end up together!

...Now that I think about it,I only know about five actual toxic ones before, this series included.

Well,now it's six.

There's only 3 chapters left this volume. Next chapter will likely be dealing with Kokoro. Chapter 19 could be an extended flashback explaining Naoi's history with Kudou. Then that leaves only a final chapter, and with it being summer break, it might end up being Naoi and Kurumi doing a summer activity together, like going to a festival. This volume's been heavy so a big catharsis ending to it is most likely in the cards.

Yikes things are getting bad, I would consider using the interior sliding lock thing (even if that would make it obvious that you are trying to lock her out)
