How so? Honestly, I thought getting killed was a fitting end for the prince. It's also not exactly strange for people to die in this story. Him being alive for unknown reasons, just to apparently give him some sort of redemption arc as he grows a tiny little heart is what's weird, since the story is about Stella. Is the expectation because he's on the cover and therefore an important character who gets plot armor?Yeah, killing him off would've been a really weird flow to the story
That mimic ghoul, who lived as some sort of terrifying monster in a lair filled with human bones (as apparently it never went ahead and mimicked those humans) and who attacked the prince and Stella on sight, apparently decided to gently remove all of the clothes of the prince, put them on and just leave him there instead of killing him and ensuring he can't get out, get back to Dragania and eventually reveal that he's a monster who replaced him. That ghoul was sloppy as fuck or too kind to kill someone.

My only guess right now is that mimic ghouls need the target to be alive to maintain the disguise. That would explain how often they need to attack and how easily they get found out when they're so good at social interaction. This chapter is pretty out there. Prince survived an encounter with the mimic/ghoul thing and then Stella shows up out of nowhere to help him out. What's she doing there? Where are her guards?
And next chapter, what is everyone going to think when they see the prince of Dragania... Or does Stella just hand him money and he travels back to Dragania with a small child as a slave in tow (which really isn't advisable considering his reputation)?

We've seen how one parasite (the one in the priest) has resorted to human cannibalism in order to get nutrition, so maybe that was also the case for the mimic/ghoul previously encountered by Central and Dragania? Or maybe this mimic is just not the same type of creature encountered before, though it's definitely not a parasite. Maybe the mimics also are reincarnated and this one was just hiding away in a hole instead of going about and killing and replacing people because it had morals but it saw an opportunity in the prince who was treating his subjects poorly? Maybe it saw the parasite working with its host and thought it could also integrate in human society. Now that it replaced a human, the mimic can just eat human foods like normal and be a better prince.
Huge WHAT for me in terms of what is going on there and how the prince survived.
Next chapter will be flashback before Stella get out from castle and other explanation, u can read tl from other website if u curious. This chapter is pretty out there. Or that he was in a hurry and didn't want to risk the retainers to go down. He probably though he would be unable to escape and die there and even if somehow managed to escape it was unlikely that a naked jackass like him wouldn't get himself killed in a country where no one knows himMy only guess right now is that mimic ghouls need the target to be alive to maintain the disguise. and there's still another hole for him to get out ofhol up. her mouth is closed in that last panel...
