2 things that are weird:

• fiances in this scenario living together - unless they explain it later as same palace different wings of something like that
• king's beard looks like it's glued on. His whole face looks fake actually, kinda like more buff MC slapped a fake beard on. Sad, because in next panels author shows that he can draw a proper beard on an older dude.

And yeah warrior-prince not being popular because he came back from a successful winter campaign with a beard - that he even shaves after, or just because he's leading country military - this is just unrealistic af. If anything, he'd create a new fad for beards in the capital. Don't give a character traits that would make him drown in pussy then make him unpopular for just that.

Considering the mother acts like she is two steps ahead of everyone else, clearly she was able to look past that in her husband and is now using the superior genes in their son for her political games!

I guess previous ones were insults mostly to his (and his lover's) intelligence, and they amounted to "you don't like my mistress and i know nothing about procedures". Like we all do - with razors. It's not rocket science to sharpen piece of metal. IRL we did that for thousands of years (there are razors from egypt/rome for example).
Not sure if we have any archeological evidence, but i'm pretty sure you'd be able to (somehow) shave with sharp rock too. Maybe not clean shave, but trimming your facial hair for sure.
And i'm pretty sure fire shaving was invented independently millions of times in human history.
