Her dad is the one who left her, and to me it seemed like she was trying to pay back to loan sharks instead of simply hospital bills. As for the coffee can part, she drank it first, so she probably got sick of it and fell over, but yeah, that's just Mia's past.
If you mean the coffee she was drinking on a bench, then it happened like mgRdr said.
It happens at the end of chapter 42 and the first half of chapter 43.

She is drinking a coffee can while sitting on a bench, she sees the payphone and thinks about calling Taesoo, goes to the payphone, calls him, overhears Sunbae talking to Taesoo and thinks they are a couple aka Taesoo already forgot her and found someone else. Then she goes back to finish her coffee, already distraught, only to find that it tastes awful, because someone put a cigaratte but in it, thinking someone just left the half empty can there. And then she collapses after throwing up.

Taesoo, if you are not willing, I am. Buy me, Seojin :dogkek:
But damn, Cha Mia :meguuusad:

According to AI, the most likely reason is the fall and complications after it. Other reasons could be a brain tumor (probably a slow growing, if it was a fast growing one things would be different, but maybe it's mutating now?) An unlikely reason would be alzheimer, but for a 20 year old to get alzheimer, they would need to be genetically kinda screwed and also unlucky.
If it's physical trauma related (aka complications after the fall), then she won't die. So that's good. If it's a tricky brain tumor or alzheimer, she'll die young :aquadrink: let's hope for the least bad option :aquadrink:

Ah yes, the girl that was introduced as someone who's changed a lot to the point that she's unrecognizable by her first love, and also had a mysterious background, actually has a sad/tragic past that caused her to change. Who'd have thought.
Why are you such an ass? The past 5 chapters or so of this series, you're in the comments being a prick. Does your life depend on you defending this series or what?

If being sarcastic towards people who know nothing except to complain about the female lead, then call me an ass anyday.

I'm just fed up with people always b*tching, nonstop, under every single comment section, every single chapter, about things that are not even an issue.

But yeah, care about my reactions more than seeing the context on why I react as such.

Dear author atp just rewrite mias name to Subaru "Subaru has returned by death"
Cuz that ain't even struggling anymore
That's straight up prolonged agonizing suffering that she's going through 😭
Did you have an encounter with gege? Tappei? Fujimoto??
We haven't seen how long really taesoo was struggling and hustling on the streets till he met heesun
But it already looks like sunshine and rainbows in comparison to a fraction of what Mia was doing this is insanity 😭
The fact that another commentator had a whole list on every bad thing that happened to her alone is frying me

Wasnt she also getting alcohol bottles thrown at her head by her dad in one of her flashbacks?

I feel like if they wanted this story to go on longer, they ruined the great dynamic that existed in the first few chapters between the protagonist, Mia, his childhood friend, and the student council president way too quickly.

The president was that character who was just there to tease the protagonist playfully and flirt with him a little; Mia was his ex, with whom he had awkward but funny moments; and the childhood friend was the typical character who provided some lighthearted moments and that was it.

But suddenly, the president stopped doing it as a joke and was looking for something more; Mia stopped acting like an ex; and the childhood friend got tired of being “just the friend.” I’m not saying this is wrong, it was obvious the story was going to reach a point like this, but if you’ve gotten that far, it’s time to make the protagonist make up his mind. And instead of that, they hit me with two chapters explaining just how miserable one character’s life was, a character whose main point of interest isn’t how badly she had it, but the fact that she’s the protagonist’s ex.

Don’t get me wrong, I love this story, but I feel like all these flashbacks are a clear excuse to throw in more “mysteries” and drag out a story that’s clearly just one decision away from ending.
