Thanks for the chapter, feels funny when the other group happens to be able to upload both chapters in a short time almost like they've been done for a while now.
Even though your intentions may be "right", based on the obvious reactions by people in the comments, you're doing more harm than good. If you read the comment on the other translation by the other team, you would've realized that they intentionally delayed the release of 54.2 due to the cliffhanger. Considering that this team has been consistently updating this series for almost three years now and you randomly sniped it, I wouldn't think that a person who truly loves this series would do that. Since this is the second time that you've sniped a series from an active tl, I highly doubt that you are doing this for the love of the game.Sorry, I’ll rephrase it better. What I meant was that it would be a waste if I translated it and didn’t upload it.
Also, when I said “I don’t care if no one reads it,” I meant more like “I don’t care if people dislike me for translating the series.” I’m not doing this for praise or attention. I’m just saying that even if some people don’t support my translation, I’ll still continue because I enjoy the series.
This tl was seemingly abandoned actuallySniping an active tl is crazy
What?? The group that has been translating it for 3 years released a chapter less than a month ago, and 2 more in the last 2 days. This tl was seemingly abandoned actually
It's not a taboo from weird ethics or morals, it's practical.Don't worry about the people getting angsty. The taboo people have against people translating works that are already being translated needs to go away. It's not a great norm, and the idea that it's unethical doesn't really hold water.
Yeah, church of Potteto and tonikaku scans were translating my dress up darling at the same time and there was no beef. A few months ago there was a group that was sniping a bunch of series and guess what? They got banned for paywalling chapters a few days later. It's not a taboo from weird ethics or morals, it's practical.
Here is a common scenario. Group A is translating a series. They are trying to do it well, which takes time, especially as they're doing this free and they have other responsibilities (work, school, etc.). Group B snipes for any number of reasons and are faster with worse quality. Group A decides to drop the series. Group B drops the series a little while later. The series is no longer being translated.
This happens all the fucking time. So people don't hate snipers out of some misplaced sense of ethics. They hate it because it almost always results in a bad outcome for readers. There are active series here and elsewhere that have two groups translating, usually because they start at the same time and neither wants to drop it. And it's fine, and no one cares. Coming into a series 50+ chapters in that's being actively translated is shitty because it never helps.
I think there is this some unwritten rule in the scanlation community or in their guideline (not entirely sure) that sniping someone else's work is somewhat immoral, and since the other group is still currently working on the series with a consistent upload they shouldnt be sniped in the first place imo. A group is allowed to snipe a series if the group that is working on the series lock the chapter behind a paywall and purposely witheld the chapter so people would go on their site and pay them a dime.I've really never understood the issue with sniping if its a quality release. I'd get it if it's a trash translation, but if its good then who cares?
thank you, it's really comfy and interestingI’ll see if I like the series, and if I do, I’ll translate it.
either you are new or forget, there's a lot of case where a scanlation delete ALL of their works here after the manga they wroking on get sniped.I don't get this gay trend of people crying over other people's translations when someone's already translating.
No I still think it's gay I've seen that happen before, it's pathetic. I could care less about this stupid community custom.either you are new or forget, there's a lot of case where a scanlation delete ALL of their works here after the manga they wroking on get sniped.
i don't blame them, but it will be kinda hurt when you want to reread something
This tbh. This is a completely unregulated market. The concept of dibs doesn't exist and the fact that 55 dropped the day after 54 is pretty telling. If the quality dips but I get the chapters a day or so after their actual release I'm okay with that.At the end of the day while it would honestly be better for a translator to focus their efforts on something that isn't getting translated over something that is, you can't force them to if they don't want to and you also can't prevent them from translating. And if they do a good job in good time then that's good. There are plenty of series that have multiple teams translating for years, people can just take their pick. It doesn't actually lose anything. Sniping just happens sometimes. Anjou had like 6 different teams snipe it because the previous team started taking longer and longer to do it and a new group came along to pick up the slack (until they slowed down and the cycle began).
