One was actively forced into it, it was either obey or forfeiting her life and reason to live. The other chose it because of strictly personal reasons, not like her parents were killed by humans either, it's not even that she thinks humans and elves are evil, she just hates them because of her previous experiences, which ultimately makes her as narrowminded as the people bullying her. She disregards their value because they are someone other than herself, it's not even about being a human or an elf.Does this story not teach the value and possibility of redemption? What about the newest member of the gang who was previously killing all of Lienna's comrades? She's changed and for the better, and she was manipulated into doing evil like this fairy has been isolated from mankind who originally were awful to her. The world's changed, especially the world inside the dragon. It's a story about rebirth as a person.
To my knowledge, the way Japanese is, 2nd person speech is can be indistinguishable from 3rd person speech, so that could be the case, and the translator may have chosen to keep it in 3rd person because that's a genuine ambiguity. And also you can say there are two Amons (not even counting the evil twin Amon who might not even be Amon) - Amon's soul and Amon's body which Amon's soul and Shiba pilot like a meat mech of sortsWhy are the two of them talking about Amon as though he's not him?
It isI mean... is that any worse than the conditioned enemy soldier that was part of a clear aggressor campaign and actually only got ate by the dragon because she was punished for not retreating & wanting to keep fighting against the enemy they invaded?
What punishment you think will befall her that is fitting for "soul-rape" and attempted murder of 3 people?I mean yeah but that's literally the cycle of "Us vs Them" and why generational trauma is so dangerous. It's not uncommon for the abused to respond with violence out of fear when given power. Fear is a very very dangerous driving force. No one is saying to forgive everything like nothing happened, but this situations like this aren't reasonably handled then the cycle will just continue to no one's benefit. She tried harming innocent people because she was afraid to interact with people again and afraid to risk being hurt by them. But she also utterly failed and there's way to resolve and move forward from the situation. I never get where these hyper extreme responses come from. An eye for an eye is just a quick way for the blind to start leading the blind. All crime is supposed to be met with punishment AND rehabilitation to improve people into being better versions of themselves that can contribute to society. This is still fantasy fiction that isn't trying to be some serious period drama documentary and going to be a lot more clean than real life, but in general there's nothing like Gotham Joker level of unforgivable evil monster here. They have basically an ex stormtrooper in the bff group. Are we drawing the line at bullied shut in that didn't even succeed in killing anyone?
Magic is her life, so take it from her. Seal her magic so she cannot use it until she repents. What punishment you think will befall her that is fitting for "soul-rape" and attempted murder of 3 people?
So he was telling him to go fuck himself basicallyI think they were talking about Shiba. The logistics of tulpa intercourse would be rather interesting with such a powerful mage.![]()
Also of note: Lienna, the human nuke, would talk up everything she does if she kept her murderous impulses in check. All she had to do is play nice, and she could get some validation from the embodiment of what the people she hates value. If not killing her is an option, then aight, I don't really care as long as they know they can deal with her if she ever puts up some shit like this again.
However, their circumstances are not the same in any way. The only similarities is that they've had (mostly) shitty lives up to this point. I do find it annoying when people overreact to a character doing evil shit only to get spared later, but this comparison is wrong in every way. I find it annoying cause all of this shit about someone deserving a second chance or not is always just stupid, in one hand you have people willing to forgive anything as long as there's an excuse, in the other hand there's people who behave as if making mistakes wasn't a thing good people can do, like only evil people do evil shit cause they know it's evil shit.
I don't think she's evil cause she does evil shit, but I do think that killing her is both safer and justified enough. Honestly, I'd have different thoughts if she had a long ass history that justified her being completely convinced that human and elves are evil. But, again, it's not even that she thinks they are evil, she just dislikes them and chose to kill any who got close regardless of their intentions.
There's this other thing I read in which a character ends up becoming the tyrant of a fairy country after millennia of failed attempts to save them, attempts that failed because every time the fae themselves sabotaged her, only to then blame her and (sometimes just attempt to) mutilate her body. Aside from that she continuously witnessed how they mistreated and abused her reincarnating daughter through different lives.
Yeah, ik, I'm arguing against the people talking like Amon's forgiveness is something she deserved. I'm of the opinion that forgiveness can be something people receive without being worthy of it, it's something that's completely up to the victim's desires and unrelated to anything else, and 3rd parties have no right to question either outcome.Man some of yall are REALLY thirsty for punishment, but like, shiba literally gives the argument and understands that she was still trying to kill them, the stories NOT trying to morally justify her actions, just explaining why she is the way she is, even if it's not justified, but amon doesn't give a FUCK about any of the moral implications, like shiba said, and he confirmed, he's biased towards magic, so shes probably not gonna get punished at all even if she deserves it, cause he's a freak like that. Its literally the same thing as when goku spared vegeta, cause he was strong and goku wanted to surpass him, she has cool magic, and invented so much of the magic thats used in the modern age, so fuck it, we keeping her.
Yeah I'm kinda in the same boat. If the dude she almost murdered is cool with it then whatever but potentially murdering your new magic buddy in front of his friends is pretty not okay and a sad backstory makes it frustrating as a reader.Yeah, ik, I'm arguing against the people talking like Amon's forgiveness is something she deserved. I'm of the opinion that forgiveness can be something people receive without being worthy of it, it's something that's completely up to the victim's desires and unrelated to anything else, and 3rd parties have no right to question either outcome.
In other words, I'm arguing against the people that didn't notice the manga acknowledges that she doesn't deserve Amon's mercy.
And pointing out that the person talking about bringing her both punishment and rehabilitation ain't (probably) even sure what kind of punishment they'd approve for her.
