TBF the parents already showed having no respect for her from the get-go by forcing her into their prep school.
Doing that I could actually understand if it’s done for the right reasons, as you need to make sure your children can live and take care of themselves and education is necessary in todays society. But sadly this wasn’t the case why they forced her into it, as they were ashamed of her for failing while her sister succeeded. It’s always shitty to compare people and their achievements by talking down on the one doing worse, way to destroy any self confidence they have and reason to actually try.

her parents aren't really wrong tbh, id be pissed if was them too. too old to have more kids and the 2 they have don't want to procreate. they also weren't wrong about her value being way less at 25 for marriage. tbh tho, this person is a scumbag who doesn't deserve the privilege of having kids.
You being a maladjusted idiot doesn't mean you're entitled to someone else's anatomy.

Also, "her value"? Come the fuck on dawg you couldn't be waving a bigger red flag if you tried.

nah mate, she was mooching off of their dime long before they decided to force her into getting the bare minimum education, and even after that she was lying and gaslighting them into getting money for a hooker... these mangas really show how little the majority of yuri fans live in the real world and rely on internet points to make worldly perceptions on character :shamihuh:

No one is saying mc isn’t a shitty person, but the parents have been extremely toxic since chapter 1. The fact that their disappointment came from them risking being ashamed by their neighbour shows it wasn’t about the education itself but their own honour. No wonder mc turned out to be so shitty with parents like that.

no no no my fellow manga reader, with shitty controlling parents like this who only see you as a pawn, lying to them and getting the benefits before leaving the house to have your own life is the best thing one can do. And that’s based on some centuries-old real world knowledge.

You didn’t chose to be born into the family and as a fresh-out of HS you can’t stand on your own two feet even if you are fed up with the repression, so seeing the money they work oh so hard to make for their daughter to receive in surplus instead of any love as something you can mooch off before is late since you ain’t getting affection from them is to be expected for this type of character. Of course her lack of any plans to get away from her parents shackles like her sister did is a character flaw, but she is a dumbass and still really immature.
But yeah, children born into repressive households that use money and sometimes basic rights as exchange currency for obedience don’t owe their oppressors any consideration. And sadly LGBT people can relate to that feeling of having to put up with shitty homophobic parents because you can’t financially support yourself yet.

So, yeah, even if Makino ain’t a saint, I don’t think many of us are excusing her behaviour towards her parents because it’s yuri.
Seeing shitty parents who think they have their children under their control while the child lives their own life unknowingly sponsored by them get wrecked at the end just gives people a twisted sense of justice. Hooking up with a cute girl and the comedy aspects of how terrible the character’s personality is is just a plus lol

Ever heard of parental love or even basic respect? If you decide to have children you are responsible for providing for them. Of course they have to become independent at some point but she's only been out of it for less than a year, she has a highschool diploma and they are clearly not hurting for money. Making her seriously think about the future or even encourage her to get a job is responsible but deciding how her future should play out without giving her a say is not. She's her own person and is responsible for her own life. Yes, her parents don't have to provide for her until the end of their lifes but taking complete control over her life for not being in education for a year is just shitty. And do you seriously expect a child to be completely open and honest with their parents if those parents have never shown that they care about anything but results?

you are stating that kids, especially LGB whatevers, should exploit families that don't adhere to their every whim because that's oppression and then backtracking to make our scumbag MC seem normal with a cute quirk in the closing remark... why? :smugchisato:

she's not a child, she's an of age adult who is years out of highschool, stop making adults who don't act like adults children... it's weird :dogkek:

And somehow the parents first became toxic in chapter 1? Nearly the first thing her parents say is how useless she is compared to her sister. She also know they won’t accept her sexuality so she can’t be honest with her archaic parents. No wonder she wants to escape reality when she’s been living like that.

She has failed the university entrance exam once, she's been out of highschool for one year. And in case you haven't heard of it: people become mature somewhere between 18 and 21, which is why in some countries you can still be sent to juvenile court if you're 18 but don't have the mental maturity of an adult. Saying that she has to suddenly become an adult once she's 18 is just stupid. Besides you seem to forget that in Japan you officially become an adult 20, not 18.

But even if we assume that she's full fledged adult this doesn't give her parents anymore right to behave the way they do. On the contrary, in that case she and her parents are of equal rights and her parents have no right whatsoever to decide anything for her. They could throw her out, which would be cold-hearted but they can't dictate her life

parents are just being parents... and in fact, if her sister had not confessed to being a lesbian by our own MC's perspective: her parents would have been more likely to have accepted her being lesbian (since homosexuality is viewed as rebellious behavior every kid or anti-social person goes through)

Parents being parents are probably the worst excuse I’ve heard for toxic parents. They would have been more accepting, or rather ignored it as they don’t have any hope for her to begin with, they only hope she won’t bring them any shame.

yes they can, once you are an adult who still wants to be childish, your parents have to discipline you like you are both... it's in their parental responsibility to get you to that standard even if you want to kick and scream no...like that one tik tok girl who went viral years ago for screaming how she was not obliged to pay rent to her parents and they were legally unable to kick her out for failing to contribute to household income

yes, that's what I said, and no, "parents being parents is the worst excuse for toxic parents" is not true, I don't expect either kids nor parents to ever be on the same wavelength because parents have a responsibility to make a child independent and to work for societal, generational, and self worth... a child only has desires for self satisfaction with the expectation they will learn their future responsibilities of becoming a parent down the road :kek:

“Parents are just being parents” sounds like an excuse to make it seem okay that they are extremely shitty and toxic because that’s in their rights.

Edit - because you’ve edited your post

Yea a parent has to prepare their children to live in their own. Whatever that’s toxic or not is how they do it. And the way mc’s parents has shown us that they are extremely toxic and has no issue destroying her self confidence to do things and shows little value in her being her own person. Being a parent is not an excuse for being trash.

Parents are free to remove adult children from the house and deny them allowances, not force them to get married.

Seems you're a bit too stupid to differentiate between the two.

not in japan, seems like you don't understand cultural norms for a foreign culture...but that does not make you stupid :meguusmug:
Japanese laws are not Japanese traditions.

Shitty parents can neg their kids to marry, anywhere, even in Europe or America. Shitty parents cannot force their adult children to do anything, in Japan, by law. Even a shithole like Japan has that separation that you're obviously unable to grasp.
