Am I imagining this or is there way less hentai?

Maybe this is all in my head but as someone that checks the latest uploaded pornographic chapters each day (I don't have a problem, shut up) I've been noticing waaay less JP hentai than in the past. Pornwha continues trucking on as always but there's been something of a drought with regards to hentai.

Anyone else noticing this?

e-hentai is somewhat painfully slow and annoying to search. Nhentai as an alternative has seen a similar decrease in uploads to my mind.

I only checked a few dates but it doesn't seem like uploads on e-h have been slowing down compared to earlier this year or same month last year. nhentai is just an aggregator so your brain might be tricking you. e-h should be ok for searching considering how the autists over there moderate tagging as if it's their second job. Unless you are loading exclusively high-res or original images, or your internet sucks ass royally, or you only view weird galleries which are not well propagated over H@H, I don't think it will be that slow. New galleries in particular should be decently fast. Or if you meant slow as in you have to browse page by page instead of long strip reading, I think there's a userscript that helps with that.

There's few people who upload their scanlations originally to Mangadex (and normally they do it both on here and e-hentai/ex-hentai. So the majority of uploads to Mangadex are requests fulfilled by power uploaders. And about the amount of new hentai, if it serves as reference, I stopped like last year cheking new works because the quality and variety dropped like a nuke and even the authors I liked became boring. There are certain factors to consider:
1st - Hentai manga magazines are dropping like flies, since authors that get popular prefer to self-publish and new authors or residual authors lack in originality.
2nd - Unless they sell well, they prefer to adapt to SFW manga (including borderline manga) to avoid taking loses and aspire to serialisations.
3rd - Fanbox subscriptions keep hurting with a higher paywall and in the end they don't publish full stories but pages in single digits.
4rd - Forget about story, specially with the rise of AI generated content is straight up porn with comissions and NTF involved.

So, in short, better leaving the ship before it sinks.

Being able to publish individually twitter actually hit hentai magazines hard. After all, you don't need plot to succeed in their business.

Plus the sad stories of artist like E-Musu Aki gave many artists an F.U. to editors and self-publish their own work on twitter, discord, fantia, pixiv, deviantart, etc...

To add to what the others said, you now have publishers like Fakku who get A LOT of hentai manga, so all of them are copyrighted and you will not see them here or even on nhentai.

On the other side, even if we get less eromanga, the good thing is we get now way more eromanhwa , so it's ok some of them are good.

Recently even the pornwha seems to be drying up ever since one of the major scanlators decided to pack up and take their scans off MD in favor of their own monetized website.

e. In retrospect I wasn't properly expressing myself. By the previous remark I mean that the scan group 'The Blank', who ran a patreon already, has fucked off with their titles to their own advertisement riddled website because that's what scanlation is about right? Gotta get them dolla bills. Profiting off stealing and distributing someone else's IP is what this is all about!

Visions of Jaimini's~box~ all over again.
