Well, I went and looked it up and it doesn't say that stepping on feet is a foul. Although it does say that tripping or intentional sweeping is a foul it does not mention stepping on toes. It may have not been an actionalble foul but it seemed intentional. Then again there is JUST enough vagueness in the image for a person to come to their own conclusion.

It all comes down to Megumi as the author intended. Samejima HAD to lose ... otherwise we wouldn't get the pressure on Megumi to eek out a win by Manabu cheering.

Also, for all the people complaining at the pace ... this is a slow burn. You may not like that but it is what it is and you wanting them to progress faster will not make it magically happen. Unless this gets axed and then we get the rush of development you were hoping for that you will still complain about. Not EVERY THING IN LIFE IS ABOUT INSTANT GRATIFICATION ... Sometimes you have to let that stew ... simmer to bring out the best taste. If left up to some people this manga would have lasted 3 ... no 2 chapters. LOL.

I can imagine a situation where Amano doesn't win/only wins by one point, then they discover that Samejima's toe is broken, the refs give her match to Seisen, and the other team loses by default.

But that would be INCREDIBLY unsatisfying. Amano's got to step up and win this thing on her own. Her bf is watching, after all.

Got to love all those gung-ho athletes who are definitely going to win no matter what, and then don't.
I also wonder how much of a problem concussions are in Kendo. It looks like people can get hit on the head pretty hard, despite the helmet.

Lost for the sake of the plot? They won the first team tournament of the year (where the third years took part) and advanced to nationals. Losing the newbie tournament was literally only to setup suspense for this tournament. It's obvious they will win.

Ok but does kendo give them the strength to not only control their toes individually, but also with enough strength to injure someone else's toes? Cuz if not that person has talent in the toe industry

human body is amazing. Sometimes it can handle a floor high fall, sometimes a poke can cause a sprain to a wrist.
So it's not unusual for this incident to happen.

And why can she fight through the pain like MMA fighter?
Kendo is a score based match, she probably can fight on, but the match ends with just one point.

It makes scene, not very entertaining, but it has its logic.
