I think I see a large tentacle underneath rubble on page 14 as well. Probably a contributing factor to his self-deprecation and wanting to push them away from him. He did also teach the monster girls magic and life lessons earlier in life after presumably rescuing them from being experimented on (and flashbacks show he was the one that gave them to the experimenters, another thing he probably feels intense guilt about). Maybe once he "put them on the right path" he voluntarily took a low-level teaching job at this university and hid his powers so as to not cause anymore harm with them and his self-esteem was slowly broken over a period of years from natural classism at the academy in addition to his own fractured sense of self-worth? Just spitballing here.

Really dislike how the author pushed down on MC seeing himsefl as trash when he is actually surronded by it.
Was a isekaied hero, fought for the people in the isekai, noticed the experimantion on the monsters and stopped them, somehow got a job as a teacher and got shit on for years when just accepting it, like if he was in the wrong.
And continues to live like that, still have the isekai cheat and just takes any insult in a world where he could put down any hostility with a simple duel.
I think he was forced to take the teacher job after not completing the hero journey and for some reason even accept the mistreatment, but is very stupid, he could have clearly gone somewhere else where to have a actual good life.
I hope the author doesn't make the explanation for why he lives like that stupid, it feels like he is fine with getting insulted and mistreated for something he did, but from anything we have seen he is a good guy and the only time he gone against people in the isekai was for saving the monster girls, how could he feel guilty for that?

Judging from the rubble, I don't think he saved most of the monster girls.

I highly suspect this as well, but it feels like the author only wants to tease us with flashbacks instead of fleshing out the backstory because he wants to string along 2 types of readers: Coomers and Edgelords.
