What?
I don't even...
She was RIGHT about the swimsuit covering more of herself than her usual clothing... so why did she about-face at the end just because the swimsuit in question was worn out?
More importantly, how did she not react to running around barefoot? There has been no reason to assume so far that she is used to doing that.
Also what sort of track is that which lets her slip so easily?
@Fives : I'm pretty sure the state of the skin on the feet would make a MASSIVE difference to that. One generally needs pretty calloused feet to be able to run comfortably barefoot on a variety of surfaces. I tested it out a fair bit when I was younger. Was able to walk around a supermarket barefoot, though the floor was cold as hell and I was worried about my feet being run over by a trolley... but moving outside on the tarmac was uncomfortable... and walking on gravel barefoot is an absolute no-go.
As for the relative effectiveness to wearing footwear... it also depends on the footwear. Or rather the shape and depth of the treads... AND the surface they're running on. Rough on rough has the most grip. Smooth on smooth has a lot of surface area, so won't slide quite so much. A rough surface on a completely smooth surface has low contact surface area and will slip like hell if both surfaces are hard (the principle curling is based on).
So if the surface is smooth enough, running barefoot is probably a fine idea... besides the thermal issues. NOT a great idea if the surface is rough.
Conversely, I can tell you from personal experience that something like rugby boots are great on grass and in muck... but they're slippery as fuck on a smooth, tiled floor.
