Ngl, this didn't really feel like good storytelling. I tend to love vague, conceptual romance arcs that don't have characters overexplain everything, but, for once, I would kill for an explanation from the characters.

The drama here felt kind of forced, and I don't feel like anything actually got resolved? Like, what was the point of the last few chapters? This feels like the manga-version of filler episodes.

Not really. He was the only one to take accountability, meanwhile Yamada’s the one who walked away from this not learning anything and never realized that her cryptic “you should know why I’m mad” act made things worse

For the "I don't get it" crowd. Anna was lonely and wanted to spend time with her boyfriend. Her boyfriend that lied about what he was doing not because he was with some girls but because he wasn't studying. The whole reason they aren't spending as much time together. She's mad that he lied. Well she's also a little jealous. You can see this in the video that was edited of showing the spots of their past memories with Yamada in the reflection of some shots to show the lack of Kyo being there. The last shot is of his empty desk.

Kyo may be an idiot for staying out all night but he's still smarter than some of you because he figured all that out last chapter.

Like others have stated I'd like to see both of them sit down and have a conversation about their relationship. Anna needs to mature her communication skills and maybe sacrifice for Kyo at some point. Kyo needs to better communicate his fears, dreams and learn to prioritize time with Yamada. He also needs to learn to be able to say no to some of the self sacrificing his done for the relationship.

While I’m glad that the situation was resolved, the way that some people felt towards the conclusion of the last chapter of volume 12 is the same way I feel towards this chapter. Ultimately I’m left feeling a bit underwhelmed.

I felt like this was more of a temporary fix rather than a permanent solution, as it feels like the communication problem between them never got fully addressed. It’s good that Ichikawa apologized for the whole situation, but I feel like Yamada prolonged the situation and made it worse by not telling him exactly why she was mad and avoiding him when he was trying to reconcile with her.

It seems like all conflicts due to a communication issue will have to be on Ichikawa to fix, and while he was definitely at fault initially I think Yamada also handled it just as poorly, but it seems like Kyo was the only one who walked away with a lesson. If conflicts like this continue, they BOTH need to be better at communicating with each other. Ichikawa needs to be straight up with Yamada and tell her the truth, and Yamada needs to stop with this cryptic “you should know why I’m mad” game and directly tell him why she’s upset with him. I’m hoping this doesn’t become a trend cuz these last few chapters have been pretty hit or miss for me

Its actualy a permanent step of progress for the two on their relationship.
The main issue wasnt exactly communication, it was willful ignorange on Kyo's part. He literally admits to it here and in the previous chapter realizes where he is failing by focusing too much on himself and not enough on how she feels.

This arc heavily relies on knowing the subtext of those two and how they think, react, and more importantly; how surprisingly well they are at reading each other.

Anna isnt a subtle girl at all(in many different ways lmao) and Kyo is pretty good at noticing her on topof that, communication wasnt the problem. He was keeping her at arms length for a long time and she was feeling incredibly lonely for it, yet, the ever so selfish and un-subtle Yamada Anna still bit her tounge and held back for his sake. While he was fully devoting himself to studies and neglecting her, he suddenly goes to hang out with a couple very attractive girls and hangs out with them.

He didnt tell her cause he felt guilty about betraying her like that. He knew why she was upset but wasnt being honest (hence the repeated "be honest" past chap). She knew he knew and was dissapointed he was still keeping her at arms length.

Anna is needy and clingy AS FUCK, she's self aware and tries to keep it under control but it still hurts. TLDR: she was just sad that he gave others priority and was still keeping distance from her.

PROOF it wasnt a communication issue: Kyo knew exactly what to say to get her attention, then said what he had to after getting it.

Nice, but Yamada needs some development too. It feels like Ichikawa is the only one reflecting and learning. Also, can Yamada please be done with the entertainment industry already? I’ve watched some sad, dark stuff about the entertainment industry, especially in East Asia, and it didn’t exactly make me like her current profession, which I already dislike so much.

I won't even mention that you've brought Yamada's career into this again, when this conflict has nothing to do with it at all, but do you really think the manga will continue after this turn of events if Norio goes with this plot twist?

It seems that some of you dislike one of the main plots of the entire work so much that you try to pretend that this plot has no significance

Anna was also upset that he was still keeping a weird distance between them. She is very needy but still put up with it for his future. He didnt merely lie, he betrayed her. "Why cant you be with me but somehow have time to go have fun!?"

He realizes his betrayal and its why he cries at the end of prev chap. He also find the resolve to close their distance and calls her by name. Distance being the main issue as opposed to "just communication"

He knew why she was upset, and she knew he knew. Kyo just had to learn to be properly honest and admit he was neglecting her and lowkey betrayed her.

She made the first move to reconcile by going and nursing him, he then crossed the bridge and started closing their distance with the classic name call.

I think the first thing anyone ought to do is reread the arc from chapter 177 and see if that clears up any points of confusion ("Signs? what signs?"). There's so much in there that's referenced in the following chapters. It has the initial setup for the whole "take pictures of places that hold memories" thing, as well as "could Ichikawa be swayed by another girl (specifically, one whose name ends in Oeko)", which it turns out later was a red herring.

Even context from before that is important. In-universe, it has been no time at all since Kyotaro lived with the Yamadas for a full week. It's no wonder she struggles with the transition from that to a school life where they basically have to treat each other as strangers. (So does Kyotaro - the funniest moment in chapter 177 is when he obliviously proposes they should get different polls because Yamada would obviously win them all.) Add to that the conversation she has with Hara, where they get into reminiscing, and it leads Yamada to realize how much she misses all the secret in-school flirting they used to do.

She might even fall back to be "not very understanding" because of this. She can get upset all she wants but it can't be helped, unless they tackle this issue soon.

In my Yamada rant from last chapter I kinda explained why I don't want Ichikawa to take the initiative and confront her agency about their relationship or simply let a lot more people know about them. I don't really see this being in his hands to make their relationship public.

Well, it's true that Yamada should do it, not Ichi. Because only he can take care of protecting their relationship from becoming public, to avoid a scenario where either her career will be ruined or they will be forced to break up. Because it seems like that he is afraid that Yamada will abandon him in this case.



No one else can make a satisfying choice for her. Only she can do that.

Well, he's been calling her Yamada out of habit when it's just the two of them, too, as recently as chapter 175. She's just been holding back on saying anything about it. The same way she held back on calling him complaining about how lonely she was that night when he was borrowing umbrellas from other girls.

So... looks like she's come to the conclusion that holding back is overrated. That's probably a good thing!

My main take away is that I'm happy Moeko felt like she had to help because of Icchi and not because of Yamada, really, all I ask is that Moeko and Icchi continue to be good friends even beyond their relationship with Yamada.
