Haha! Yeah, this girl's pretty unpleasant at the moment. I'm sure we're going to get a horrible and traumatic backstory, but even before that, I don't think we (or just me, I guess) really need it to just let it slide like Douglas is doing.
Here's what we know about her: She was sold, she lives in a brothel, and she's 15. Life was definitely unkind to her and basically nobody really raised her beyond the ladies here who have their own worries to deal with.
I'm not saying it's okay to be a shitty person just because bad things happen to you, but she's basically just an immature kid, and it's fair to just leave it at that.
A more interesting conversation to me is the idea of altruism being arrogant. I mean...is it? Some people who need charity probably hate it as a natural response, so the very fact you're trying to help hurts their pride. Does that mean either side is wrong, though? Someone sees something wrong with the world and tries to fix it to the benefit of others as a natural response.
