@rebath - A nobles internal family situation - such as being a fat lazy slob who is a disappointment does not suddenly allow anyone of lower rank to dishonor them
Slow is the first son of a Duke and inheritor of the peerage. the highest peerage of all non-royals. He has not lost his inheritance, he is merely seen as a failure - directly insulting him to his face is still out of bounds. The spoiled rotten children in school are one thing - a professional ADULT Knight is another.
His position is untouchable as it was described early on in the series - all hostilities should be passive aggressive, not this direct insult crap. In additon, beyond peerage, adults getting into a petty squabble and dick measuring contest with a child is just plain ridiculous - let alone professional servant protectors of the nobility, Knight, the lowest of all nobility ( even if only Nobles can become royal knights, its barely above regular knights in service of regular nobles and cannot compare to landed nobles and clearly a position for exceptional second, third, fourth etc. sons who work to become Knights because they cant inherit the fathers land and peerage)
