Slow and isekaied dude share same trait, both are ostracizing Charlotte and denying her ability to grow.

No wonder she didn't hesitate to join a freaking harem of a brain dead "mc of a story", she might have been just a 3rd or 4th wheel, but at least she felt useful.

Slow irritates me so, freaking, much.

Imagine you are being attacked by small creatures. Creatures that can target your vitals. Let's say pixies, who can fly. They are armed with metal toothpicks...in other words freakish huge needles... and paring knife (short but sharp, as everyone knows, who managed to cut themself with one.) They even aim for your eyes and hurl stuff at you, that hurt. Scared? You better should be! You are fighting for your life here! One of those little demons is charging a shotgun, that will most certainly be aimed at your torso or head, while others keep you in place. You can't outrun them. They are faster (more manuverable) and they have you where they want you to be. You manage to hurl some sand and little stones at them, while they deflect it with their little energyshields. One of them screams:

Now you've done it!

Come on!

I feel bad for Charlotte, what was the purpose of her even being there when she's being sheltered this much? She's effectively forced to be dead weight since she's not actually allowed to do anything but hide in the back.

I reckon the plan was not to have her take part in a fight against a monster the royal knights+princess (blessed by the light spirit itself) couldn't handle. Maybe she was supposed to fight basic slimes, skeletons, or something. Don't also forget that Charlotte has a history of striking her allies instead of the intended targets (it doesn't help that she fights with her eyes closed). Imagine if, in a battle like this, she had accidentally hit the back of a knight. It could have distracted the knight enough for the lizard to snatch the man in its jaws and chew him to death.

It's also difficult for Slow because the wind spirit (in the form of a cat) is always keeping an eye on Charlotte and Slow. Should anything happen to Charlotte, Slow would get punished by the wind spirit. Nothing has suggested the wind spirit would be interested in Charlotte's progress with magic.

I already said it in the comments of an earlier chapter, but Charlotte refuses to recognise her own flaws. She just blames Slow for not allowing her to normally carry a wand or use magic as she wants. As long as she doesn't admit that she sucks, she can't fix her problem and Slow has no choice but to heavily restrict her actions.
