Smh the one complaining about this seems does not read the story carefully, it all started with insecurities between them about their relationship after having sex, mako fears that shinici only love her for her body (sex) and shinici fears that mako doesn't happy or enjoy with relationship cause she does not cum when they are having sex. When you are insecure misunderstanding still can cuase a problem (when you already experienced how relationship is you must have known this).

In the end shinichi wants to show mako that he loves her by showing or doing what she likes and want (movie and doll she likes in their date) plus shinici gives a REAL ring to show how serious he is with her. And mako finally believe in shinichi that he really loves her by recalling what he already did for her from past till present.

Note : and this romance is mix with comedy so some parts maybe funny and dumb but that just how comedy in this manga (they are yelling at each other since the beginning, if you think some other things dumb think first that they yelling each other almost every chapter manga that obviously no way in real life that happens)

man i don't know. i like this manga. no i love this manga but this arc just wasn't vibing with me. it just feels like they should be past this point already. like we've taken a few steps back and now we're advancing back to where we should be.

they didn't take a few steps back to try to understand each other better or try to see things differently. they just did this because of... misunderstandings?

i thought that out of all things, the first and most important thing that shinichi and mako have always been is honest. shinichi for lack of any other virtues is always 100% and totally honest and mako was the same albeit maybe a little shy about what she admits. mako having a misconception that shinichi doesn't love her just doesn't make sense to me. we spent like 2 volumes of them getting to know each other and then them becoming a couple. okay sure him saying that he's treating her like a sex toy wasn't a nice way of putting it but that sounds more like something he just said because he doesn't know how to word things sensitively rather him displaying his true feelings about her.

but with all that being said i'm glad we're moving on. i honestly can't think of them moving back further in their relationship just to reinforce the same thing again twice. maybe the author was stressing out during the limbo period and was already committed. who knows?
