@humbleoverlord it was reported to the MC that the Orcs attacked the beastman village and people get killed. What the Orcs wanted to accomplish exactly didnt matter in the slightest (neither beforehand nor now) and is basically not something MC could have found out by waiting without wasting the whole situation/chance until it is too late.
That someone came to help and just attack his units is something that was by no possible means something MC could have learned beforehand.
Waiting would have been a choice to forfeit EVERY adcantage the MC had. MC tried to safe the beastman and establish positive relations with them. There was no human army moving which could have been spotted in the first place.
Waiting would have been the correct answer if it would be POSSIBLE to know if the humans send troups. Which they didnt btw and therefore was nothing the MC could learn/know. The Saint acted completely rouge and stupid without any reason and didnt appear to be in character from what we saw.
It was clear that they fought the Orcs and you dont just attack a possible ally but rather first find out their intentions. All what it did was showing the MC that a third party can easely interfere with a battle and turn it upside down. Besides that the MC couldnt learn a single thing. Its basically just making the plot in a way that MC stays more in his forest instead of venturing outside. The MC has in this outcome absolutely NO CHANCE to learn commanding or more about the world. The MC did even send a scout and tried to use a golden opportunity to establish good contact and use it as an informationsource.
Your whole argumentation falls apart with just this last point, because he did do everything possible.
Do I say it was 100% perfect how the MC acted ... no, but the MC didnt had the leway and troops (MC doesnt have unlimited numbers of troops and most likely will never have) to keep extra lookouts or letting this chance slip away. The MC even stood rather far away with his wolf and healers to "observe it". MC could have spotted a bigger group of Humans coming to aid the beastman. By no means the MC could know or learn that just 1 is beeing send, because with so many orcs, without a strategy like the MC's, it wouldnt really be possible to challenge so many orcs with so few numbers.
Besides the point that the Saint basically killed ALL "potential" survivors there. This whole situation was just the need/goal to contain the MC for much longer in the forest.
What you say is that the MC should predict the unpredictable. This whole defeat and situation served absolutely no purpose at all.
Because of that the next 1-2 chapters completely decide if this Manga is trash or not.
