If I'm not wrong the Pest comes from bacteries and not virus, so primitive antibiotics will do the tricks.
That and intense usage of insecticides. The Pest was transmitted by fleas. So just get rid of insects (and rats if possible, though just having cleaner streets would do the trick to reduces rats invasion)
