Dang man, the citizens don't have a choice if he gets executed or not. We already saw how the princess treats maids. It's pushing it, but if I was going to kill citizens, I'd limit it to everyone that lived at the capital. Why kill all people as a whole? That's unfair to the uninvolved bystander. Whatever. The MC's seemingly a lost cause, and whatever morals he had as a hero must have been paper thin to go full unhinged.

To your edit: What part of "purge the world" and "wipe them out" did you not understand? But I guess we've yet to see him deliver on those claims.

That's fair, I think. But I don't know if the mob screaming at him as he died were bandwagoning sheeple, or coerced into it. Because, you know, the princess was obviously cruel enough to beat a servant until they couldn't move.

@Talismaster Depending on the situation, purging doesn't mean kill everybody. Stalin purged his government and people, but he didn't kill them all, only those he thought should die. (By no means am I excusing Stalin's purges. He killed tons of people because he thought they were disloyal, and with a paranoid maniac like him in charge I would probably want him dead too.) I'm just trying to say that, historically, purges, especially when talking about disposing of traitors, doesn't usually refer to killing everyone. All of that being said, I do think that this edgy MC might have meant that he wanted to kill every human being.

MC is foolish, drunk on his own desire to get revenge so much I feel he just handicapped himself. Why would you risk causing a goddess who is willing to be your ally to lose her power and authority just so you can get immediate gratification? To me, that ruined things a bit. Especially when she said the gods were considering no longer saving the humans. If he had used his wits properly he could've petitioned the gods to be their instrument of judgment rather than coercing the goddess of love to send him back immediately and to do something taboo like give him darkness powers or whatever. What happens if his targets invoke the power of a more powerful deity against him? What happens if a more powerful deity than the goddess of love chooses to smite him? That whole thing was stupid to me.

Apart from that, his whole switch from hero to "I'll kill you all" is a bit much. I can understand him doing that in the moment, but after death when he had the opportunity to think things through...nah. He was betrayed, I get it but the whole human race had nothing to do with his betrayal. In context, I take it as the whole human race because they said "humans" as in the whole human race when the goddess of love said they weren't thinking about saving them. It was followed up by his declaration to purge the world. Which would insinuate he meant purge the world of all humans of which he called demons at that time.

This is silly. Not all humans had to do with your death. Only those immediately influenced by the princess. Those should be your targets. Thus, this seems to be one of those revenge mangas where the MC is supposedly gone insane and ends up targeting everyone BUT the person who should be the target. I think it's evident the princess is not going to die given she's on the cover. I could be wrong, but, meh....we'll see I guess.

1. What the hell does "cleanse the spirit" mean? It sounds like the gods violate souls spiritually using some arbitrary definition of pure/impure, fuck that noise.

2. The vast majority of people can't even handle a single life with their significant other let alone an eternity with some love-obsessed goddess, till death do us part is there for a reason.

Yeah, the MC definitely made the right call IMO

Revenge wank stories rarely have compelling villains because when the villain is given even slightly reasonable or relatable motives the audience doesn't get that little shot of righteous vindication when the bad guy gets their comeuppance. It's not awful in small doses, but it's lazy writing and modeling the entire story around it is like modeling an entire story around fan service. It just fails to make you care about any of the characters.

Try being rational while in the immense pain from being crucified, in despair from being betrayed AND literally everyone around you shouting that they want you dead. Him being fully batshit insane is to be expected.

The actual question shouldn't be whether or not "the given situation makes sense or not", but whether or not "the given situation is entertaining".
And personally, the MC has pushed his revenge to such an extreme, that it became stupid. He practically wants to cause the human race to become extinct, which is plain absurd. That reduces the amount of people who can genuinely enjoy a masturbatory revenge story by quite a lot, as the author now feels like he's not even a teenager, but a child.

Not sure I'm doing this "@" thing right. Anyway, the Joker is one of the most well known insane characters, yet he can string together various plans that cause Batman to have to run all over the city and investigate things that lead back to Joker. Insanity does not necessarily always mean irrationality in a person, it can mean that, but that seems to be a cop out for what MC did. He had the opportunity to seek his revenge with the backings of a pantheon of deities that would have most certainly assured he was left alone. Now, I wouldn't be surprised if one or two felt he went to far or something in the future and seek to go against him.

As I said, I understood MC's in-the-moment rationale, but after dying and reappearing in the afterlife, I guess I'm not seeing why he would still be insane. Does insanity follow us into the afterlife? I guess I'm the type of person who doesn't think physical and mental ailments follow us when we die. He seemed more obsessed to me rather than insane. Just stubborn and I know the author probably wanted him to come off as insane, but death is like the end of everything for everyone unless you factor in reincarnation. Dunno, just seemed kinda petty to blame the whole human race after that rather than mostly the princess and her loyal worshipers or even just everyone in that city.

If anything it should be the goddess getting pissed and granting him revenge for what they did to him on her behalf, not him treating her like trash and manipulating her.. Thats so fucking edgy. But I only going to read it to see how he fucks everyone up, but writing/story wise, its pure shit. Not going to expect anything for a good revenge story.

The mc is right when it comes to humans though, christianity has been saying for ages that man is born a sinner and a psycology discovered a few centures ago the concept of the shadow.

Deep down every human, no matter how good we see or think we are, has evil thoughs and does evil actions and seeks a mean to justify them. In a dire situation it's unreasonable to think we are gonna hold our morals and having MC realise all this now, is a beatiful start for the corruption tag.
