To further stress out that Raoul Faith followers were no less of a scum than the King's faction. Looking at the comments, people do seem to forget what kind of manga this is, so author is constantly giving readers refreshers.

We go from killing and maiming to a frankly random ass rape and killing scene that actually has no purpose in conveying anything that wasn't already stated and broke the flow of the story. You could have taken out that scene and nothing would have changed one whit. That why I ask if the pages were necessary.

If later the fact that those people were killed and woman raped matters to the plot, then okay sure, but as of this moment right now its a jarring break from Raoultime.

He is not indifferent. He is filled with hatred.
Just cause he smile doesn't mean he don't care. He would not be in a revenge quest, and he wouldn't bother with torturing his enemies if he was indifferent.
I guess you just like "oversensitive" characters. Those who cry and yell and become histerical at the drop of an hat.

What's with the random rape scene

Just to show that the people worshipping Raoul aren't good at all, and he have no reason to consider them allies just cause they say to worship him.
