While I can enjoy this manga for what it is, it seems every single living person in this world is just evil by default.
There is no moral relativism, no white or gray, just Evil people and more Evil people to contrast all the other Evil people.
This manga -really- needs to have a chapter or two just to remind us that there is in fact non-Evil characters going around, unless everyone is capital E Evil for plot reasons.

Why would it feature other people, other than as spectators to it, like when he punished the princess?

They were already dead before Raul.
They were puppets Raul used.
You know he can control corpses.

Either that, or he found the corpses. Earlier chapters showed that he can also look through the memories of corpses. Maybe he was travelling through the forest to get to the village and stumbled the place were they were buried, saw that someone had buried something there not so long ago and found the bodies. After all, the reason he wanted to take revenge was something completely unrelated (the village not giving his comrades water), so he might have not even known about the villagers murdering of wanderers.

Will there be an explanation as to why the villager don't just whack them in the back of their head as they pass through the gate and get it over with?

What's the benefit of providing meal and bed and chit-chat? Is it to goad information out of them in case they're some big shot? But why would it matter if they're just going to get buried and presumably missing to the rest of the world?

@BlackMonday Well, there WERE good people. But they all get killed/tortured for the purpose of having a reason for revenge/show how evil these people are.
Such as:
The hero (before being betrayed/murdered) - ch1 & ch3.4
The village the hero liked - ch3.2
The hero's (pregnant) sister - ch3.4
The messenger - ch5-7
The hero's female party members (mentioned) - ch6.5
Various unnamed people that got eaten and buried (presumably innocent) - ch7
The hero's hometown village and the hero's mother - ch9
Pretty much all the random people that got experimented on (mother&son, injured soldiers, poor people, debtors, and supply soldiers) - ch12
The 2 lost girls - ch20

If they're adventurers they might fight back.

If they're nobles there might be consequences with the authority.

If they are a part of a group someone might come looking for them later.


In any cases, it's a really bad idea to just wack everyone coming through your door.

A village of looters and murderers....why am I not surprised? You know what will better liven our mood is the revisting he promised the queen every time she recovered, when are we getting that?

Also, so if this world is so f'ed up why has Raul been so blinded to this before? Betrayed yes, but he ain't no idiot. I mean, he was a kid when his village was destroy and mother killed so you can make the excuse of narrow slightness for the revenge for his village but aging up does calm oneself from the constant blinding rage. Having a single goal is fine but he had whole live after his village got dismayed so, why did he not notice all this disgust in this world he was saving before?
