It was always kinda just alright for me. A tad too melodramatic for my taste in recent chapters. This manga has really taken a sudden turn downwards in my opinion.
Yes, the monologue did say that, but the actions shown were "I won't let my trauma bother me anymore even if the words won't fade."What do you mean? One of his internal monologues is literally, "The failure that day, the things they said to me, the wounds in my heart...none of them were going to just disappear."
She didn't say don't just be traumatized, she reassured him she likes him for who he is, and she'll be there for him, and he accepted that he won't just be ok, but he's more at ease knowing he has someone on his side. That's...kind of how you support someone through trauma when you're a teenager that can't do anything about it
I did read that, but the words and actions don't match. He explained his thoughts and feelings, and she literally went "well, you're you and that's all I care about" and he was fine after splashing around a bit? Like, for THIS interaction? Sure. I buy that. He got it off his chest and his mind off the trauma. But once he's back at school and needing to face the band again he'd be right back to square one because nothing was actually resolved, but the manga hand waved it away like "he's fine now, let's focus on Haimiya now." And that rubs me the wrong way.he very explicitly said his wounds arent healed but her words will support him learn to read
she also didnt disregard any of his trauma she just expressed how she feels about the parts that relate to her in how its manifesting in this situation
I kinda get where you're coming from, but I think it is pacing/framing thing.edit: Since I got some valid comments I want to clarify. My issue isn't that Haimiya was able to help him take a step forward and feel better in the moment. I also acknowledge that he says the wounds will remain. My issue is that the story moves on so quickly into Haimiya's issues without letting Kurose's situation fully resolve so it feels like a hand-wave of his situation. Literally one more chapter showing him talking to the band, expressing his sincere apology and explaining the situation (pushed forward and supported by Haimiya) and them removing the self inflicted pressure by emphasizing that they want to play with him because they like him and have fun playing with him but he shouldn't feel pressured to play and if he's not sure they'll figure something out, or something, then lead into Haimiya's situation, and give Kurose one more "i'm so nervous/trauma response" moment right before performing but seeing Haimiya in the crowd and his bandmates supporting him lets him perform and kill it would close out both arcs perfectly (imo) by letting both characters have enough time and respect shown for their respective situations. As it stands, Kurose's trauma feels like "we developed Kurose" and more like "This was just a stepping stone to move the story along" and that makes his trauma a plot device and not a character trait. I dislike that is all.
It turns out...Haimiya has an allergy to culture.Brooooo don't give her some kind of health thing out of nowhere come on
I think more "why she was allowed to spend so much time there"Oh damn, I just realized I never once questioned why she spent so much time in the infirmary.
Yom sock account spotted.Mio did something amazing here; one of the kindest things you can do for someone who's feeling confused and under pressure is to show feet.
