While looking for a replacement for Batoto.
Batoto is my main base, but it's quite sad I can't look up to it again.
Then I found this one early 2018.
For a couple of month I'm not doing anything, then I joined.

The great Batoto was dying and to be no more. The end was near and the netizens were scrambling in fear. some lost all hope. others salvaged what was left. Then there were few who saw a beacon of hope. Factions sprang, but one team emerged to lead the lost. We thought all was gone....a place to call home where we can brave flame wars and share novel stories among a forum of cultured men (and women) was to be but a memory was discovered at last.

Alas, mangadex opened it's doors

Near and far others across the vast net heard of this brilliance. Redditors helped spread the message. Scanventuring guilds joined hands and once again we rejoiced in the traditions of old.

I was but one of the survivors of Old Batoto, cast adrift when it was laid low. Other, lesser sites proved insufficient, riddled as they are with ads and links of questionable nature. I was hopelessly alone, floating without direction in the dark seas of the internet. I slowly lost hope.

But I still I plod on, mindlessly, more for the act of searching instead of hoping to actually find anything. Upon the storied currents of the search engine did I float, but to where, I did not know. And then, I heard the call.

'Give me your tired, your poor,' it said, 'your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me. I lift my lamp beside the golden door!'

It was then that I saw it: Mangadex. It was beautiful. When I saw that front page, that lack of ads, the quality of the images, and the acknowledgement of the scanlators, I knew that I was home.

@HughMann
Are you some kind of poet or what?
Surprisingly you are quite melancholic *wheeze*
I think that is the main problem with other sites, they are using annoying ads. It's funny enough to see, they put an ad for their site but in fact they took the scans without the permission in question. It's not strange if many translators are upset.

Anyone who sees this, I think it's better to start supporting directly (by reading here) through the main base where the groups upload their projects. Mangadex provides many good features and conditions that are comfortable to read.

I was an anime guy. I watched tons and tons of it. Well now I have wife, work and additional traning/studies it was hard to find time to watch animes. So even though I said many times I will never bother with mango, now I am addicted to it and anime bores me a lot (probably because I've already read mangas that animes are based on hehe). So i joined Batoto just when it decided to shut down. After that I used some agregator sites and it was awfull experiance. So I checked google (and freaking redit that i tent do stay faraway from) every few days to find out if someone picked the laying potato. Luckly I saw a few redid posts recomending MD. I still remember when every time I wanted to look for mangadex on diffrent platforms bastard google send me this message " did you mean mangafox?". That was bit irritating. Now I only read mangas here or on TL group sites.

BTW go to hell mangafox.

I used to read most of my manga on MangaHere, but there was this recurring issue (which, in the interest of full disclosure, I will admit I wasn't sure if it was the website, or if it was something about my browser/router/security settings) where I would occasionally not have the "permissions" to view a chapter, or a chapter would simply be stuck loading forever. It was usually temporary, but it meant anywhere between an hour to a day before I could go back to reading. I learned that MangaHere seemed to have some sort of connection to MangaTown (I was viewing the code, trying to figure out what was causing issues with permissions or the "endless load loop" of certain chapters), and started up a system where I would start reading on MangaHere, and as soon as it froze up, I would hop over to MangaTown and continue reading there until IT froze up, and so on.

Needless to say, this got old, fast. So one day, I was reading something (Rokudenashi Blues, I think), and basically got fed up. So I Google'd a place to read it, and found this website. It was clean, it was fast, and it didn't seem to have any of the issues I was having with MangaHere and MangaTown. So little by little, I started doing all my reading here. It's been a handful of months now, and I finally decided to commit and make an account, instead of relying on an ever increasing series of bookmarks. I think I'm here to stay, haha.

On Reddit after Bato.to announced its closing. Saw the thread about potentially starting a spiritual successor and kept my fingers crossed!

Came from /r/manga subreddit on Reddit. Nice design, no ads, easy to read on a tablet, so decided to stay.
