Fair enough, I missremembered this part of the description. This is the opposite of what happened as shown in 2 previous chapters.
This is summed up pretty well. At the end of the day Hikari showed she has the maturity and understanding to take the truth. Yuu and Yami on the otherhand, are too scared to face their issues head on. This isn't uncommon in highschool kids, so its not that big of an issue. All this showed me that Hikari is a better character than the story initially let on.Many people seem to dig too deeply into the timeline. The issue is not what happened in the past. No one is a "bad person" based on what happened in the past years. What is the issue, are the immediate events of the previous few hours/days/weeks.
1. Yami figuring out that Yuu is her ex and not only not moving to resolve the issue with Yuu and/or Hikari, but completely intentionally creating the situation where she is in the place where there is a very high chance Yuu will find her + proceeding to kiss him, with the knowledge that his entire presence during this event is a plan by Hikari, her best friend and the person she owes an immense amount to, to finally confess.
2. Yuu had a coin flip decision to make - when he was late and found Hikari in the dark corridor, that was the final moment he could have come clean and still salvage the situation. Their relationship would have hit a setback, but it would be salvageable if they had an honest talk. He took a bet by not telling her anything, and then again couldn't just let her go and had to confess himself, right after making out in a public place with another girl. He took a big bet and lost everything. It's not particularly good or bad, just came off as a bit desperate at that last moment, when he confessed.
So no, Yami is not a bad person because she went out with Yuu. She is a bad person because she still couldn't give up or come clean to her friend about her having feelings for him. I'm convinced that if they had talked a while back, Hikari would have been a bit hurt, but she would have appreciated the honesty and a "fair declaration of war" over Yuu. Instead, she came of as a backstabbing, ungrateful bitch.
The biggest betrayal, and the worst thing a character did in this story, has nothing to do with Yuu. It's Yami betraying her best friend, a person who dragged her out of her misery, completely selflessly, and helped her become a semi-functional human being. This, and only this, is why Yami is trash.
In my case, more than defending Yami, I think the author is screwing up her character, I get it, she has a defense mechanism that everyone here recognizes, she tries to push people away and in the process she hurts them which makes her end up being a piece of shit.Thx for the TL!
yea thats what i'm kinda surprised about. Im fully committed and made it clear the Yuu does not derserve hikari, but i understand why or rather the reasons why people defend him. I get it. I don't get the people defending yami though. I stopped defending her when she tried to do the whole fake sugar daddy setup to hikari. And to yell at hikari to use her body to keep yuu, wow
Reading this chapter title in combination with the title it belongs to... I honestly expected more.Everything, falling apart
Ye but novel has more details and novel and manga are dual releaseJust curious, is this a fateful adaptation to the novel?
Thanks a lot for the translations.
As the fate wills it, the novel and the manga are released simultaneously, so it isn't strictly speaking an adaptation. There are minor differences here and there, and some things are interpretative, i.e. it can be argued that some things in the novel did not happen in the manga, but in broad strokes, the story is the sameJust curious, is this a fateful adaptation to the novel?
Yes, she's conflict averse, but also she chose to have Hikari see the kiss, and to me this reads like the ghosting or the sugar dating prank - jerk moves Aya pulls to push people away where she really wants them to show they care. And I think it's also the equivalent of her "why didn't you ask?" with Yuu, which back when they were dating she deflected in all the ways but deep down she wants the questions.Because, at the end of the day, admitting she still loves Yuu equals confronting Hikari to her.
What do you expect everyone to do about this?Everyone is letting this go...
Thats because most of us already know yami is a bitch and very much in line with her character. An awful human being.DID EVERYONE SKIP THIS? Like YAMI told HIKARI to her face that she only became interested in YUU after he became a man (got involved with her) before that she didn't see him as a man. Everyone is letting this go...
She's only slept with Yuu? Who she fell for the same "he's goodness and light" reasons as why she loves Hikari. Like it's been a year and change and we know she hasn't been with anyone else, much less a ton of guys - Hikari basically calls out that the playgirl attitude is an act in this chapter. The paid dating was edgelord nonsense she never followed through on.I'm not defending Yuu it was his lack of self preservation but it doesn't change the fact that Aya is a fucking slut that would do it with anyone
I think this is baby steps towards forgiveness - like Hikari first wants everything out in the open to clear the air. Like during this fight, she's pushing back on Aya's negative characterizations of Aya and Yuu rather than being like "yeah, you two are terrible".Idk I don't really see this as her "forgiving" Yami a bit too confrontational to me still even if it's not out of "vengeance" either
Yeah, I agree that I think Hikari is mad at all of them for the lying and keeping things from her. I think she's focusing on Aya's feelings for Yuu here b/c that's what Aya is keeping from her more. Like I think it's mostly that getting Aya to be honest w/ her requires Aya to be honest w/ Aya first.I feel this is a good argument against the idea that Hikari is getting angry for Yami's sake. Going from "I hate liars" in no uncertain terms to this argument leads me to believe that she's legitimately hurt and pissed off at Yami lying as well.
I like that she's acknowledging Yuu's agency here - he wouldn't be with a girl he doesn't like - and that she think's he should be capable of standing up for himself. If anything, she should be MORE pissed at Yami for dragging her childhood friend who she knows has issues asserting himself into this whole mess.
Yami knew his favorite most loved popular childhood friend went to her school b/c they had multiple conversations about it. Which yeah delulu but also a "will he tell his CF about me to try and find me?" test. Like I agree this test isn't fair, but I also get why Aya had hoped that Yuu would have thought that their relationship was important enough to reveal to Hikari. They had no mutual friends,
B/c there's nothing yet from Hikari's side to confirm whether this is true or the story Aya is telling herself for why Hikari should be grateful for Aya and Yuu's relationship. ETA, which also Aya is using this as deflection and that's why everybody, including Hikari, is letting it go.DID EVERYONE SKIP THIS? Like YAMI told HIKARI to her face that she only became interested in YUU after he became a man (got involved with her) before that she didn't see him as a man. Everyone is letting this go...
Or maybe because HIKARI, a girl in her early teens, only recently started seeing the others and herself from a romantic perspective. Especially considering that back then (and arguably to this day), in a very literal sense YUU was not a man but a boy. Experiences might be much less of a factor here than biology.Only after he had gone through several life experiences (these experiences are the result of who we are today, whether they are good or bad). Only after that did HIKARI begin to see him as a man.
Yup, like Yuu talks about how Hikari was rejecting all the boys back in middle school.Or maybe because HIKARI, a girl in her early teens, only recently started seeing the others and herself from a romantic perspective.
