BG3 definitely soured me on Crit Fails in Skill Checks
Yeah, especially since it in practice means you'll always have a 5% chance to fail (advantage aside), but the 5% auto-success almost never comes up, since there are very few skill checks where rolling a 20 wouldn't succeed numerically anyway. For me, the highest I've had to roll to succeed so far was 17 (towards the end of act 2).

I've seen some DC 30ish persuasion checks, which are still kind of trivial for my bard with all the bonuses I can stack.

The main things I've HAD to roll 20s on are pickpocketing checks, since the difficulty can quickly scale to the point where you can't get enough bonuses to make them.

A number of the house rules that have shown up have been WTF things I have never seen anyone use before, so I can't really make an assumption on which house rules they may be using.

Really until I've seen the author use Nat 20/Nat 1 on skills (and they may have and I don't remember it) I'm just going to assume it's RAW, otherwise our MC is just being really stupid.
You can't assume it is RAW when you know they have things that are not RAW.
We can agree that we don't know what rule set is being used though.

Since this world follows D&D rules wouldn't a natural 20 get the guy free from the ropes?
Even if he did, the simplest thing to argue for would be an attack of opportunity when he tries to escape from his ropes. Depending on what edition of DnD we're playing, coup de grace rules can come into play.
Even if we're going off of an older edition of DnD it should be pretty trivial to make a case to the DM that
  1. I have a knife to a person's throat
  2. I ready an action to slit his throat upon him attempting to struggle out of the ropes/cast a spell
  3. He is bound, unable to defend, and there is no way to miss an attack on them
Anything else would just be DM fuckery

Sana is dead by the time MC arrives.

Dude is taking his sweet time as if he lives in Tamriel or specifically Skyrim. Morrowind.

Is that a rule? I mean we had a murderer who is still aligned with good.
I don't think it's codified either way. Morality is largely up to the DM. In this case he's Evil any way you cut him up into itty bitty pieces.

Dude's been tied up, threatened with a knife at his throat and claims there's manners to uphold when asking for a favor.
He's not the brightest, huh.
If MC is bright, he would have skipped this chapter and moved to save Sana. Plot progresses in a very roundabout way.

8MAn MC. Edgelord too. I guess self-fulfilling is a requirement to progress plot. He even has a Sana little sister to save, LOL.

Absolutely not, as I explained in this comment, Yukito has only been in Everworld for ~9 days and set out to subjugate the Temple of Evil two days ago as of Ch.96.

Years worth of releases for us, two measly days for the characters.

Timeline in manga are really crazy. You will have hundred of chapters on barely a week and the character will act like they've known each other for years.
Had this new medic come to us, just before deployment; he was a no-shit 18D (SF medic) who got randomly tasked to us, and I battled up with him.

After the first week, I knew him better than my actual brother, and after the second week I knew more about him than I did about my best friend of 20 years.

A week of strife with another person will truly form a bond; especially if it involves killing orcs.

He didn't take the handbook? Killing him and giving the book to one of the party members was an option.
Unique items cannot be stolen from NPCs but can be glitched copied though. Like the Strange Amulet of Calixto.

Seeing how expensive these rule books are anyone would freak out when you start burning theirs...
