when becoming an adventurer and you are the one taking a subjugation request. then you should make up your damn mind first. do not hesitate and go for the kill. it's not the old earth, it's the damn isekai. they have different rules. if you still had doubt and any other emotion, it's normal, it's killing other we're talking about not wrangling chicken, but at least make up your damn mind first and then make up your damn mind again when becoming an adventurer (i write it 3x for a reason)

only if you're totally overpowered then it might be the time to subjugate them without killing. it's still a dumb idea, but it's the arrogant of those who in the power. i'm not saying this negatively though, it's just the privillage of those who had power to determine other lives (either good or bad)

While I think the whole: "Oh god, my first kill!" trope is done horribly, it makes sense. Although I was going to be real annoyed if the whole mr.peeper nonsense was the last sign of it.

From what my father told me of his experience in the military, these thoughts usually don't come in the combat, only some vague questions before it happens and a LOT of self reflection after it happened. In the moment though, adrenaline + training/panic takes control.

yeah, somehow many manga does that. i'm not asking for them going on killing spree but at least be aware of kill or be killed mindset

Goblins may look small and unthreating, but you should remember that they're being confused by Chris' magic. If it weren't for that, Rurika and Sora probably would have easily been swarmed.

Sora gave his potion to the village instead of keeping it for himself. Good! Now he won't have to worry about hoarding it, haha. Though to be serious, he's a kind dude for giving up valuable items for the village. And now he's learned how to kill to protect others. I'm surprised his sword slash sent the goblin flying. I guess he put a lot of force behind that slash.

I mean, to be fair the goblins are just running their course trying to survive following basic instinct. Whereas the villagers knowingly lied and gave wrongful information on the request form making it seem suitable for rookies. I mean they are literally letting 3 rookie adventures handle a group of 30 goblins. That is an actual death sentence regardless of their reasoning. The girls couldn't handle five wolves by themselves and on paper the MC is significantly weaker than them. If he didn't happen to be the MC and have a cheat power than whatever party arrived would have most likely been wiped out by the goblins or been smart and chosen to leave (wherein regardless the village chief would have to resubmit the request and cause more damage to innocents in his village). I'm just saying I have a lot more reason to dislike the villagers than goblins and that makes the MC's moral dilemma infuriating on top of cliché (though realistic).

Edit: In Pg14- "I am about to take this creature's life" is the proper translation but taking the context and previous chapters in regards, better would be "I'm about to take the life of a sentient being". We'll make sure to change it later.

Not saying to change it, but I do want to point out that depending on the definition and namely which philosopher you ask creatures (and all animals) are sentient. Sentience can be seen as basic capacities to think, experience emotions (or behavior possibly induced by emotions), etc. And it's supported as we continue to study animal behavior and biology. Thinkers like Aristotle noted that other animals had sentience but what separated them from humans was that humans had the ability to use logic/reason. Other thinkers that we're separated by higher orders for out natural functions and it kinda goes on. Really there's a bit of trouble in determining a definitive separation between humans and other animals (potentially because there isn't really one).

I would be putting words in the others mouth, but I'm going to assume the difference in killing wolves vs goblins is that the goblins look humanoid and resemble children in shape. The next step up would killing something that speaks the same language making you feel even more guilty.

I don't know what realism yall finding in a high schooler hesitating to kill, but a simple rule is when anyone be it human or animals is after your life, you don't hesitate to kill that's all there to it.

Tnis is fiction boy, come out and touch the grass to see in high-schoolers there are athletes,boxers,martial artists,thugs,gang...wtf have you learned after watching all that much isekai anyway? that everything depicted there is real?....

I would consider this mc to be on wuss side of all the isekai mcs given he was atleast able to adapt slowly ...than considering highschoolers are not "killers" who would kill anyone who comes for their life.
I can give you a list of isekai mcs who know the harsh reality of life.
