Patents require that there is a patent system in place, that is more modern concept, so can not reasonable assumed unless the author directly mentions it.

Industries require capital and resources which he does not have, and will not easily acquire in a medieval world where the nobles will try and take anything for themselves.

It would been better if some of the ladies found out why the top guilds do not have such products and the only way is to go to the slums . They have to deal with the unwashed masses.

They will have servants do the shopping.
